I would like to hear from Catholics what the Catholic belief in the infallibility of the a) Pope b) the Catholic church in terms of it's declarations and amendments to articles. Are they to be believed because they come from the Pope? Is there a sytem to refute beliefs that you feel may be either counter-productive or not in line with the truth? Does that Pope have the power to, for instance, say to go to church on wednesday from now on and if you don't is it your choice? I think that's all I got for now. Probably more questions to follow later :p

The pope can speak infallibly under certain conditions - when he speaks ex cathedra, literally "from the Chair [of Peter]" on matters of faith and morals.

That doesn't mean that if he changes the day of worship to Wednesday, that it's an infallible statement. He could declare that all Catholics eat cheeseburgers on Fridays during Lent. That's not infallible either.

Neither is the pope himself infallible, or he would be without sin.

Hi! Welcome.
