CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I completely understand getting rid of the political thing. I'm so glad the presidential election is over. I was beginning to o.d. on all the politics.

Having grown up in Indianapolis, I certainly thought that's what I meant. Although I did find it odd that so many people were from Indy (and that nobody else bothered to post their towns!)

You mean to tell me that we are on a Christian based site and listing our POLITICAL Affiliation now? Why is it that, that seems to conflict in some way?
I can see if you are exercising your opinion because of your beliefs, and that you do not want one candidate or another because they do not line up with your beliefs but to go as far as to start posting our political affiliation along with the religious icon we bear seems to me to be a contradiction in terms.... Sorry just my .02 cents worth...

Being independent means you don't allign yourself with any political party, but you are still registered to vote. That way you don't get calls from your party asking for donations. Unfortunately, in some states, this also means you can't vote in the preliminaries (I know that isn't the name, I just forgot the name of what it's called).

Ok so then it is essentially saying bringing into Christianity, political affiliation. And before you say NO, then I will tell you that I do not believe Atheism isn't a type of affiliation either, just because they say they are the absence of Faith in God.FullyMT said:
