  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone heard of Indigo Children? I identify very strongly with the characteristics attributed to Indigo Children.

The term Indigo refers to the aura of these people. This is another topic I need to bring up. When I first heard of this Indigo Children I set out to see if I can see auras myself. I wanted to check how true this Indigo theory was. After researching auras, I was able to see the auras on my own body. I am sure of the existence of auras now.

I have accustomed my eyes to faintly see auras. I am still in the process of learning more about Indigo Children.

As those in Christ what are your suggestions or comments on my endeavours and on the theory itself -Indigo Children?

Rick, thanks for the reply.

Anything that is the truth or can describe our universe, I'm highly interested in (ie science, philiosophy, etc).

Truth and understanding come THROUGH experience. Science was constructed based on the observations (or experience) of nature. In understanding nature (science) we have found many useful applications (engineering, medicine, etc).

I likewise want to understand the Indigo Children because I already see a reality in it. I hope to find a useful application in it.

Cobweb, I very much would like to know why you say "playing with fire".

I would also like to add that I'm very serious about this stuff. I think mentioning that I'm 21 and in majoring in Civil Engineering should help. Another thing...I strive to be very aware of myself and my thoughts; what is real and what is not; what is my imagination and what is reality. I also invite any comments on auras or seeing auras as well; their existence or non-existence. All comments welcomed but assertion with support I prefer.

The concept is foreign to Christianity. Meditation in Christianity is centered on Christ. Read about the Saints who meditated on Christ and you will see the difference.

I've read about it.
I'm at least vaguely familiar with most conspiracy theory & esoterica. Lot of tares in that wheat patch.
You should familiarize yourself with Madame Blavatsky, she real close to the core of all that star-children stuff, but at a historical distance. Her doctrines & revelations are so fundamental, and her phraseology, the nomenclatures she identifies entities & idieas with, are like code language to computer programmers for the multiplicity of movements, cults, and "sciences" that have since appeared from ghosts to UFOs.
I learned drafting at my father's consulting engineering firm.

Hi flc.
I'm glad you posted this thread and I am going to
check out the links.
I looked into it a BIT a few months ago because
someone that I had 'witnessed' to had recently
shared her new infatuation with this indigo kids stuff.
Now, she's a BABY Christian and moved quite a ways
from me to another town and started just diving
into whatever.
So I am VERY concerned for her, and I hope
you're checking what GOD says by reading what He
left us. More later :)

AWESOME on the career choice!

I learned drafting at my father's consulting engineering firm.
I'm so jealous!
Took drafting and architectural drawing all through school, and
even tried to land a job in a shop when I was younger.

I'd love to know CAD (or whatever the latest and greatest is now)
Do you... nm, off topic.
:sorry:

thanks so much.

My concern was on how intertwined this was with the New Age Movement. I'm always seeking to be an overcomer in this age.

Rick, that's neat. what type of work does your father's consulting firm do? I'm interning at a consulting firm this summer where they primarily do geotechnical and structural work.

Sunlover, as long as you have the basic understanding of drafting you acquired in school, learning AutoCAD and other drafting software shouldn't be a problem. Engineers have to constantly learn how to use new software; there's a plethora of engineering software to solve all types of problems. It's just a matter of getting acustomed to different programs; whoever uses a computer daily has this skill. I see most engineers using AutoCAD and Microsoft Workstation (not sure) for drafting. CAD is probably the most used.

He's retired now, but I remember the day he came home from work early. I mut've been about 3yrs old. He walked in the door in his suit & bow-tie, sayin' to mom, "Honey, I lost my job."
I found out later on that he had punched his supervisor in the nose when he found out he'd been taken credit for dad's work (the last of many "straws"). He was an electrical engineer. He got a licence in 3 states & started bidding design jobs. He soon hired his buddies away from his old boss to complete his design team. By the time I was in High School he had an apartment, a boat, a car, & some other property in the Bahamas that we'd visit in winter. He wanted me to be an Architect, but I'm too much of an artist & musician for that.

My partner at an electric sign company had to use AutoCad for one national account, but it was 5 commands in AutoCad to 1 command in CorelDraw to accomplish a single function, so I never bothered, not having the time.
In the early 80's, Gerber invested in Computer Tech, targeting sign design software. The have an excellent program with variable scaling & many fonts with all kinds of design functions like text wrapping & distortions.

I "escaped design" in '95 & have been "hiding out" in production at a non-electric shop where I'm a one-man night shift because I can screen print on the computerized screeners, & operate all the software for both design & production. The designer at our shop is a guy I trained at one of the electric companies I worked for.

Here's a couple of links.

The first is from wikipedia which provides a long list of references at the end. The second link is one of those references.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigo_child#Commercialization

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/12/f...4722000&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&pagewanted=all

Only wiki has info on it and the article isn't even considered complete. I only read a few sentences to tell me this is not anything that should be messed with.

Indigo children is a term used within the New Age movement to refer to children who are alleged to possess paranormal attributes such as the ability to read minds.
The Indigo child concept was first publicized in 1999 by the book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by the husband-and-wife team of Lee Carroll and Jan Tober.[1] Carroll insists that the concept was obtained via conversations with a spiritual entity he calls Kryon.

That should give you enough warning there. But if not:

Adherents believe that this new type of child has come forward for a reason; most often suggested is that they will improve the world in some way. The changes generally discussed involve bringing peace, toppling corrupt institutions, and a shift from allopathic medicine to a greater understanding of more natural alternatives.
Isn't that the job of the Messiah? He is the one that will do just such a thing. without any help.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

I dont see why anyone should get their golden girdles twisted in knots over this. Rather then give some kind of "mysterious power" thing to it, give it nothing at all.

I mean anyone can "think up" something to sell another some kind of theory.

I could say, I have the ability to see magenta light orbs around dogs. Since I'm not inventive enough to create a product, I create an "idea" and try to sell "that". I decide to write a book on "magenta light orb dogs" (appealing to dog owners). Either way, whether its a product or a concept (that I might try to sell, of either or).

Children are just children, whether more intellegent (or whatever) and parents are always interested in whether their "child" is gifted in some way. Parents do this in various ways anyways.

Theres nothing wrong with having some of the qualities these children could have (whether good or bad) given children are children. Gees, they had ADHD children (supposedly) and I feel sorry for the children (either being experimented on) or having any such expectations placed on them. Thats sad. I havent looked much into it to know the "depths of it" so to speak, so maybe I shouldnt say anything. I just discard things as "nuts" more easily I suppose (and leave it at that).

So whats the deal, Is it just some dude just seeing (indigo colored) body heat giving off light on children here?^_^

You know...rather then say, "I made this all up in my mind" (as that wouldnt sell books) He makes it more "mysterious" and gives credit to (and names) an invisible so called entity (most likely thinking, "that will get them curious") and that always appears to "work" as well as stir up both controversy and instant advertising gaining curious ears to "this new thang". Why feed it?

My daughter named monsters she thought were in her closet. There were not any monsters in there (they were in her imagination). A little "monster spray" (water in a spray bottle took care of that)^_^

Cant we just look at it as an imagination gone wild? Or would that be way too simple?:p

I saw a TV programme on this some time ago. I watched it with my sister (who isn't a christian) and neither of us liked what we saw. Amongst other things, some of which have already been mentioned, they were training them in channeling.

I'd say stay away from it.

As to auras. Well, I know we can only see what our human eye is able to see, so there could well be an aura surrounding living beings that we can't see. Who knows? But unless it is something that God is showing you for His glory alone then don't meddle with it. There are many things in the spiritual realm that satan uses for his purposes. Wait/rest/meditate on the Lord and He will direct your paths.

I ain't seen ghosts, but I definitely seen two UFOs.
Seeing "auras" is common & they are too interrelated with real phenomena to be too easily dismissed.
Here's an interesting angle:
http://skepdic.com/kirlian.html

Hey OttoMan:hug:

You know...I can perceive a "glow" (aura) if you want to call it ~that~ around a freind. I just dont dig into secular studies about everything nor am I interested in it (or think it something special). It is what it is (whether proven or disproven) whether common or not uncommon.

I'm so disinterested in learning about that stuff. I know I got way too much I desire to learn of Him to get distracted from Him (going off on various mountain trails).

The fruit Ive witnessed in others plummeting the depths of such things (well intentioned or not) does appear to manifest in unhealthy suspicions (popping up everywheres) and extreme paranoia.

Its like some of these folks see a demon behind every tree. That appears to be their only reality. When it is they (in turn) force feed others all the evils (they see) onto everyone around them in every conversation. Some do it with everything, I seen it done with "movies" (like the lion King). Pretty soon (after listening to these folks) I cant help thinking their conscience is so defiled they are simply unable to see anything as clean or just look at a thing straight on. No, it veins off into a thousand directions connected to every ancient evil (unbeknowns to man). By the end of the "spew" this 200 pound dark wet blanket has been thrown on ya.

If its life to others, I say go for it but its death to me (personally) and I will not "go there".

A doctrine of a demon is shown in scripture taking the form of ~abstaining~ from meat and ~forbidding~ marraige. That has religious undertones to it (by way of abstaining) of all things.

Knowing the "depths of Satan" is also spoken of in Revelation (as they speak) and I dont think thats enouraged. I never get anything out of such discussions (personally) but there will always be those who do. I suppose theres tons of strange teachings to be led into if you want to go there, I so dont^_^

Its good to see you back Ottoman;)

Peace

Many of the paintings which have been painted (in regards to the saints) have a glow about them. One could say those who painted them picked up on that very thing. Who knows, is right. Perhaps it was the warmth and love that came from them (invisibly) where they made it visible? I try not to overexamine such things lol
