In the Presence of Jehovah. . .

What does it mean to you to be in the presence of Jehovah?
What can we expect from being in His presence?
What differences have you seen in your life from spending time in His presence?

Here's the words to a song by that title:

In and out of situations, that tug a' war at me.
All day long I struggle for answers that I need.
Then I come into His presence, all my questions become clear
In that sacred moment, no doubt can interfere.

In the presence of Jehovah, God Almighty, Prince of Peace,
Troubles vanish, hearts are mended,
In the presence of The King.

In His love the Lord provided, a place for us to rest
A place to find the answers, in hours of distress
So there is never any reason, to give up in dispair
Just look to Him and breath His name
He will always meet you there.

In the presence of Jehovah, God Almighty, Prince of Peace,
Troubles vanish, hearts are mended,
In the presence of the King.

I guess I thought our entire existence was spent in the presence of God?

Acts 17:28 and all that, you know.

What would you say is the difference between the inner court and the outer court?

1) "Be in His presence" has always brought a connotation of feeling a special manifestation of His presence. That's what I always thought anyways....

2) I would say you could expect any of the fruits of the Spirit to manifest inyour life as well an uncommon favor to follow you. :)

3) Greater ability to handle some problems that come because of the assurance that He is there with me.

Very good questions Quaff :)

Lives Jehova in which presence I am...
To stay in Jehova´s presence is so wonderful... that we feel we are nothing. To be in His presence means to be as much pure as we can since nothing impure could stay in front of him.
What can I get? Peace...Joy... Oh wow!!! anyone can explain it better?
Hugo.

Yes Paul, I believe many people do feel something when in His presence. Of course like lambslove pointed out, He is ever present, but His manifest presence is something very different indeed.

I would say a great big YES to your second point also. Us being in the presence of God will have a very positive affect on us. It will change us. We
will see the fruit of the Spirit manifesting in us more.

I also believe that we will handle things with greater ability because we will be more in tune with the Holy Spirit.

Good point Paul,

Thanks,

Quaffer

Hey Hugo,

Yes, to stay in His presence is indeed wonderful. It is only in His presence that we are made something from nothing. We are redeemed by His blood. Bought with a high price. Loved and cherished by Almighty God.

It reminds me of an old Andre Crouch song:

I don't know why Jesus loved me
I don't know why He cared
I don't know why Jesus loved me,
Oh, but I'm glad, so glad He did

Peace. . . joy. . .love. . .gentleness. . .all of the fruit of His Spirit. . .definately. . . we can expect it.

Thanks Hugo,

Quaffer

What would you say is the difference between the inner court and the outer court?

Inner court is those saved people who know they are in God's presence and want to be there; outer court is those people who aren't aware of God, aren't saved or don't want to be in the presence of God.

Where do you get this definition from lambslove?

Well, I'll ask the question in another way then. A little more on the human level.

What is the difference between sitting down and talking with your spouse and making love with your spouse?

You make love to God??

The difference is as simple as making yourself aware of the intimacy!

A conversation with your spouse can be as intimate as making love to him/her. And more fulfilling sometimes, and more bonding. The difference is the level of engagement at the moment. Being fully engaged with the other person is what creates intimacy. Being fully engaged with God is the difference between your "inner court" and "outer court."

Where'd you get yours?

As far as I know I've not given a definition.

Really lambslove, I did not mean the question to be so threatening.  I just have never heard that definition before and wondered where you got it.

Ah!  Well at least you know the direction I'm trying to go :)

I understand that God is everwhere, so technically, we are always in His presense.  However, the times that I sit down quietly and start conversing with Him, the level of His presense seems to change dramatically.  I notice this any time that I start concentrating on Him and His goodness and mercy, etc.  During those times I feel almost overwhelmed by His presense.

So getting back to my first questions:
I'm understanding your answer to my first question, "What does it mean to you to be in the presence of Jehovah?", to be bonding and intamacy.

Do you have any thoughts regarding the other two?
1. What can we expect from being in His presence?
2. What differences have you seen in your life from spending time in His presence?

Quaffie,

This is what me Pastor taught:

Tabernacle Us

1. Outer Court ---- lots of activities / priests busy ---- Our physical body/surroundings
preparing sacrifices

2. Inner Court ---- more quiet, still some activity ------ Our soul/mind/will/emotions

3. Holy of Holies ---- perfect peace where God is ------ Our spirit man w Holy Spirit

we can be very busy on the outside serving God, running from one place to another, but there shld be a peace and rest deep within in our spirit man.

Does that answer your quest on the diff betw inner and outer court?
