Celebrating the Christmas Story
How do you celebrate Christmas? With the family reading the Christmas story? Attending a Christmas service — program, cantata, candlelight service? Do you decorate the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve? Do you go “over the hill and through the woods to Grandmother’s house”?
Christmas is a special time for family. We should take time to enjoy and appreciate our families. Remember them with gifts and the special extras that show appreciation for them, being sure to recite the story of Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem when seemingly they could find no place to spend the night. Remember with awe and wonder the birth of the Baby Jesus. Experience the excitement of the shepherds when the angels gave the glorious announcement of the birth of the King. Hear the angels sing: “I bring you good tidings of great joy, for unto you is born this day in the City of David, a Savior, which is Christ, the Lord”. Run with the shepherds to Bethlehem, pause in wonder at the manger. See for yourself the real, the living God come in human flesh.
Even though we can’t go to Bethlehem and see the new-born King, we can meet the risen Christ, inviting Him into our hearts.
Has He spoken to you? Have you met Him? If so, go! Tell the story! Invite others to meet Him! Spread good tidings of great joy!
Celebrating Christmas
Worshipping our Lord
Thanking Him for blessings
This season gives, affords.
Speak up, thank our Blessed God
That the blessed Jesus came
Down from Ivory Palaces
To a world of sin and shame.
Worship at the manger
Where Baby Jesus lay
Thank Him for coming
That blessed, happy day.
Worship at the tomb, then
Praise our resurrected Lord
Even now at Christmas
Exalt Father, Spirit, Son.
