This is sort of a spin off from the other thread where we were discussing the creation, and also from a show I watched a while back.... here is the thought....

Lions, tigers, bears, other misc big cats have fangs or canines or teeth made for grabbing and tearing.....

Snakes have fangs and that jaw hinge thing....

Crocodiles and alligators have big teeth, and jaws that are made to clamp down tightly on prey.....

Sharks had teeth, sharp teeth, and lots of them....

Killer whales have teeth...

Now here is the problem. There are two options.... when these animals were created, were they created with these "tools" for eating just as they are? If so, then they were carnivores from the start...

If they were not created with these tools then what did they eat? I know some have taught that everything was vegetarian from the start, but the animals listed don't have the teeth to be a veggie....

So then the question... Did God create carnivores from the outset? Did animals evolve into carnivores?

I was watching a show this evening where a woman was swimming in Australia and was snatched by a crocodile... and I thought, crocodiles must have always been carnivore, their system is not set up to do the veggie thing.....

Thoughts?

A good example is vegetarianism. There is no doubt that man's original diet was fruits, nuts and grains. Why? First, these three were readily available. Ground tubers would have to wait until he discovered there was food underground. Second, he had not yet invented fire with which to cook meat. But it is completely wrong to suggest that this was the diet that God gave to man. Man is the only animal for whom God did not mandate a diet. Every other animal has a specific diet that has been wired into its DNA and barring human intervention that is all they will eat. This is why animals die from loss of habitat and food sources. Humans are able to determine what their diet will be. If their diet had been mandated from the beginning they could not change it. Yet, how many times have you heard someone say that God wanted man to only eat fruits, nuts and grains?

A lot of animals have sharp teeth that only eat plant foods.

I think I will believe the Bible when it says the animals originally ate vegetables. Ever read the story of a lioness that refused to eat meat all its life? It lived 9 years and only ate plant based foods.

In the wild? Please tell us the animals you refer to in the first sentence.
