  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I thought this thread could be an "In Honor Of..." for those who have lost loved ones who were in the military at one point in time. My Grandpa died over a year ago of lung cancer. He was in the Special Forces. He was a Green Beret. I have a lot of his army stuff in my bedroom, including some letters he sent his mom when he was stationed in Korea.

A recent aircraft crash took a guy I knew in navigator training. I say I knew him, but I knew of him, I guess. He was in the same class and very close to some in my squadron, though.

Last year while we were deployed, we lost a pilot in a motorcycle accident to a teenager that had snuck out with her parent's SUV. He was a real star in our squadron and is sorely missed by us and his family.

In my old squadron in NC, a friend of mine was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle. His supervisor began crying when he had to take his name off his aircraft and give it to his family.

During the war, we lost an E model. I didn't know the pilots themselves that well, but I remember the look on the crewchief's face when he realized his aircraft wasn't coming home, and I remember the wingman needed help getting out of his jet because he was crying.

I served Security on sight of an A-10 crash.

The pilot ejected but the chute didn't open.
Pilot was found a day after a long day in the Arizona sun.

A10, is a tough jet, but when confronting mother earth, it doesn't fair well.

We need a saluting smiley.
FB111 crash sight was better.
capsule came down on a tree, and one of the occupants came very close
to getting a limb up the bum.Just infront of the seat. But they walked away from the crash.
