There are good reasons why there are 50,000 Protestant denominations and some even better reasons why they broke off from the Catholic/Orthodox traditions….
I personally have come to believe we are to follow Christ. His sheep literally hear His voice, what you think doesn't amount to a hill of beans -- GOD WILL DO IT HIS WAY - my personal theology is more about submitting to His will in my life than arguing about doctrines. Doctrinal arguments haven't seemed to improve the Church in 2000 years and the best and most brilliant thinkers of many ages devoted their lives and often gave their lives for the correct doctrines.
I am satisfied believing the Nicene Creed.

I look more at apologetics as a way to answer unbelievers than a way to change believers who have differing doctrines. I have found it unfruitful and even with cults, arguments seem to just entrench them or turn them from seekers to atheists.

This is just what I 'think' the Lord has lead me to, after wasting too many years trying to get it right…. the only right is Christ. Finding that most Christians that think they are 'all' right are more obnoxious than Christians who are humbling seeking the Lord's word, for me has proven my point. Again, this is a personal thought, I bless you as you seek wisdom.
I have seen unity only in the Holy Spirit, His church is not a social club where one size fits all, it is good when the brethren dwell together in unity. I have only personally experienced that in Charismatic circles, but all are welcome into my circle. As long as they don't insist I have to believe exactly as they do...

The statement "walk as Jesus did" and "act as he acted".

Explain for me what those two phrases are talking about.

If I was walking and acting as Jesus did.

What would I be doing?

It is right.

I am not sure what you are trying to say in this post.

But yes we are righteous in our Lord. To stay in our Lord one has to live his Word. Sinning is not living God’s Word, and if one sins he or she is no longer in our Lord.

"Justification is that step in salvation in which God declares the believer righteous. Protestant theology has emphasized that this includes the imputation of Christ's righteousness (crediting it to the believer's "account"), whereas Roman Catholic theology emphasizes that God justifies in accord with an infused righteousness merited by Christ and maintained by the believer's good works," (Elwell Evangelical Dictionary). It stands in contrast to negative imputation - where the sin and judgment due to the repenting sinner is imputed to Christ. Virtually all would agree with the latter, but not all will agree with the former. The debate turns on a number of Bible verses not the least of which deal with what and whose righteousness was credited to Abraham when he believed God (Genesis 15:5-6).

Imputed righteousness is one of the classic doctrines of Protestantism and traces back through the Reformers - chiefly John Calvin and Martin Luther. These men stood against the Roman Catholic doctrine of infused righteousness where the righteousness of the saints and of Christ is gradually infused to the believer through the sacraments. For the Catholic, infused righteousness either gradually dissipates as the believer takes part in worldly sins or is enhanced by good works. If the believer dies without having the fullness of righteousness, coming in part from the last rites, he or she will temporarily spend time in purgatory until the sinful status is purged from his or her record.

Thanks Andrea, I for years had no understanding on this truth. I was always trying to do better, or do more. It never sank in that the Father declared me righteous because of Jesus. Not understanding that God was my Abba, the second Jesus came in my heart. Missing these truths stunted my spiritual growth. I would become paralyzed with fear, and condemnation. Not being able to follow through with my commitment to God.

I always believed that God wanted me to do so much. I felt so obligated, people to save, heal, and minister to. Then on top of that maintain this super relationship before God. Boy that was alot of work(lol). Then some how the truth of imputed righteousness snuck in. I'm declared righteousness, he is my Abba, I have intimate fellowship with him.

Then I started to walk in works he alone has prepared for "little o me" these are gloves that fit my hands. Imputed righteousness, what a GOD he is, I'm totally complete in Christ.

The truth:
You do have to be "good enough". However, it's not our "goodness" that gets us into heaven. It's God's mercy, through Christ. However, God's forgiveness, and cleansing does not pardon those who continue in sin, the sin must stop. If the sin does not stop, the faith has not been alive.

You are a young Christian, I pray the Lord hold you strong and fast. but should you fall, may you know His grace and mercy. We journey with the Lord and for us who have been around awhile. we know that growing in faith sometimes means change. Everyone's walk is different, we start in different places, have differing histories etc hopefully we all arrive at the same destination intact. Not everyone has to fall to know His mercy, but some do and some will, and He has promised to be faithful even when we are faithless. yes, we should not sin but gratefully when we do we have an advocate with the Father Christ Jesus.
If we COULD walk the perfect path, there would have been no need for Jesus to go to the cross He would have just told them that and they would have a choice to be sinless or not.He went to the cross knowing we were sinners and knowing we would sin again how great His love is for us.
For those of us who have been forgiven much, love much. and that forgiveness does not produce a desire for sin but a love for our Lord which in turn produces a desire to be more and more like Him just as a child follows their parent and emulates them hopefully we too will emulate our Lord.
