  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Father just called me -- and is really struggling. He has not been a priest for very long- only about 4 years. I was even at his ordination (which it seems like something I should perhaps avoid in the future as every Ordination which I have attended - the priest has left the priesthood :sigh: )

Fr. Dayro had the worst, worst assignment (our local parish which has a reputation for just ripping priests apart)--followed by another horrible assignment. He is really burnt out. And I think he is going to go on sabbatical. He feels like he doesn't really have anyone to talk to- which I guess is why he called me.

I urged him to ask the Archbishop to send him to counselling -so that he would have someone to talk to in confidence, who has the skills to help him. And also to seek holiness whil he took time off-- to seek quiet and spiritual edification- to remain celibate. These things will help to have the silence and stillness necessary to hear God. I also recommended that he talk to a young priest who just returned to active ministry after taking time off- who thought of leaving.

I am begging you for your prayers for this priest. Praying that he will find the help and encouragemnet and compassion he needs - in order to be able to return to the fullness of the priesthood, and carry on in his vocation. My heart just breaks- both for him and for the Church. His name is Father Dayro. May God bless you richly for your prayers for his servant.....

There is truly a great battle being waged our priests are being assailed right and left and many of them do not have the support group in place to help them through it and some have abandoned their prayer life. We must pray, pray, and pray for our priests. We must show them support, invite them to our homes for dinner, compliment them when they do well, and let them know that we need them to be holy and to have a prayer life.

This has been placed on my heart this week, so I thought I would share. We need to pray the Rosary for our priests and we need to visit the Blessed Sacrament lifting up our priests and seminarians.

That is so, so so true.....

often, too, it is the holiest priests which are attacked most fiercely...do not let their holiness lull us into a lack of fervor in our prayer for them.....

:prayer: Praying for Father...

Not to change the topic, but is it really appropriate to use his name in this thread? I mean, I assume he contacted you in confidence...and it's a public forum:sorry: .
I'd think it's important to also respect the confidentiality of our priests when they reach out to us.

God bless
