I'm starting to write my book now!

I figured why don't I just write it now so when I'm like 18 I'll publish it!

Hey, I'm 13, and I'm also starting writing a book.

But, I figured, why not publish it while I'm 13?! It has been done before. That serves as motivation to me to write and not put it off, saying that I still have five years to write my book.

Well I plan on having a series of books. So hopefully by the time I'm 18 I'll be done with it all. How do you get your ideas for books? I sometimes get it by watching the news.

A word of advice: have at least a general outline of your book before you start writing anything. Search google for "Elements of Style" and suerte!

How do you get your ideas for books?

Beats me. I usually have an idea that can be prompted by just about anything, and then i mentally expand on it until its a full-fledged plot and then I may write it down on paper. I do a lot more thinking that I do writing, though. I find it somewhat silly, how I talk so much about writing, yet I've never written a flat-out novel. Sure, I've tried several times before, but I just never seem to get past the first page. Except for this time. My "novel" has reached 4,500 words and it's based off this short story I posted on here a while back. It (the short story) can be found at the following link.

I've been writing my novel for the last 2 years. I'm currently in the third revision of an opening chapter. I'm going to post it here soon, to see what you all think.
I get my ideas from a lot of places. The current novel is based on several ideas I had, a romance novel, a sci-fi novel, and a war novel.

Ah. I started my novel at age 13. Such sweet memories. Course it's a monster now and I haven't finished. Writer's block and laziness--yipee!

A suggestion: control yourself. Writing a novel is a great endeavour, better make yourself ready by writing short stories, poetry (it does help) and maybe a short novel.
