• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone. I am so depressed and anxious. Here's the thing. I have a meeting with my senior priest this Saturday to see if he feels that I am ready to convert to Catholicism or not. Well, I have left the Catholic faith in the past few weeks to try out the Baptist faith again. I did come back to the Catholic faith over a week ago though and feel very committed to it. I feel that I am ready to convert and that I am ready to commit to it for my entire life. I am so worried that he'll say I am not ready to convert. Even if he does say this though, I will be totally willing to wait till when he does feel I am ready. Please pray for me and/or post something here. Thanks.

Who gives him the right to determine if you are worthy or not?

God does. See this Bible verse:

[BIBLE]Matthew 16:19[/BIBLE]

In this verse, Jesus gave his apostles and their successors which would be the bishops the authority to bind and loose. The bishops pass on authority to the priests to make decisions such as the one I am referring to. :)

P.S. Sorry for the meanspiritedness of my post before I edited it. I honestly didn't realize how meanspirited it sounded. I did not intend for it to be meanspirited either. :sorry:

God does. Please do not turn this into a debate or a Catholic bashing fest. If you do, I will request that the thread be closed.
Please, it wasn't a bash, it was a bible based question. Jesus encouraged us to "Judge not", he encouraged us to talk with the Father, to have a personal realtionship with God, and not to fear any man/woman.

You said you were depressed and anxious b/c you fellowshiped with Baptists and that this may in some way be wrong if you wish to define yourself as a Catholic. In regards to the bible, I don't see the conflict.

Devotee, I apologise if you feel that I have offended you in any way, shape, or form. I admit that I may not have been the most Christlike in this thread. Please forgive me. And by the way, I was not accusing you of bashing my faith. I was just asking that nobody practice bashing in the future of this thread.

Hope everything goes well for you.

Thanks setzie. I said a prayer the other night and I feel so much better now. I feel like Father will feel I am ready to convert. Now all I have to do is wait and see. :)

:) Don't worry everything will be ok. No body hates you.

Oh I know that nobody hates me. :) Its just that I hate it when I am misunderstood. All well, I am over it now. :)

Right now I am just a little bit anxious about my meeting with the priest tomorrow. I'm staying up a while so I can get tired and go back to sleep. ^_^
