Hi Carenski, first off, I see that you are still pretty new around here, so
WELCOME TO CF ..
That said, you're right, the knowledge and understanding of God's word is key in the battle against our enemy. By filling your mind with it, you leave no room up there for the negative thoughts he brings your way to find a permanent resting place!
My recommendation, especially for those who are struggling like you are, is to begin to "memorize" His word. That is far and away the most effective and quickest way to begin to empty your mind of the garbage that's in their now, & to begin to replace it/permanently fill it with the very thing that needs to be there instead
If you'd like some suggestions on how to get started, just let me know. For instance, I used the Navigator's
Topical Memory System when I got started, and I still use that same system today when I memorize new verses or passages.
BTW, memorizing entire books or the NT itself isn't what I'm talking about doing, rather, just one or two verses per week is all that you'll need to fill your mind with His word
You may also want to check out a book by C.S. Lewis called,
The Screwtape Letters. It's fiction, but it helped me immensely when I was being attacked so heavily as a young believer. You can buy it, of course, or you can read it online here for
free. It's actually a collection of short stories that Lewis read during a weekly radio broadcast. Oh, and be sure to read the introduction/preface as it is pretty important. Lewis wrote this book from the POV of the demons, so when you see the word "Enemy" in this particular book, for instance, it's always referring to God.
Finally, choose to trust God at His word concerning the enemy ..
1 Peter 5:8; James 4:7; 2 Corinthians 10:5; Ephesians 6:10-17; Philippians 4:6-8. And always remember who you are, and that the One you now serve is the One who loves you so much that He chose to die rather than live without you
Yours in Christ,
David
2 Corinthians 10
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
