  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong area! I'm new here, and positive news seems like the best fit.

There's a website, freerice.com that is a charity giving website. Basically you just play vocabulary games, math games, etc, and each answer you get right is worth 10 grains of rice. Now, it takes about 19,200 grains of rice or so to feed a person, but, it really doesn't take too long to get maybe a thousand or two thousand a day. It's a legit website, and here's the numbers.

"In its first ten months of operation, Freerice donated over 42 billion grains of rice. One month after the inception of the viral marketing program, users had earned enough points for one billion grains of rice. The United Nation's World Food Program stated that this amount could feed 50,000 people for one day,[4] since it takes 400 grams or about 19,200 grains of rice to feed one adult for a day.[5] Using this calculation, enough rice was donated in 2008 to feed over 6,000 people daily for each day of that year.[6] Since its inception, as of March 16, 2012, Freerice players had earned sufficient rice to feed nearly 5 million people two meals for one day."

Anyway, I just really wanted to share because I know times are tough with money and some of us wish we could donate more to those in need, and this is definitely something good we can do! :)
