Some of us do believe this, but we're not s'posed to tell
Sounds like the makings for a new threadSome of us do believe this, but we're not s'posed to tell
I just noticed you are an atheist.I just looked over this thread and was pretty disapointed.....
If i didn't know any better i would of thought i was at a George Bush Convention....
We are Liberals - Liberal MEANS LOVE!!
We should believe that Everyone gets saved by grace and makes it to heaven and there is no hell....
So what if this guy was a jerk - he is still human just like us and we are all the same....Nobody is better than anyonelse and nobody deserves to go to heaven anymore than anyonelse...
Love Each other - or go post in the conservative section.
Apologies for the confusion. I meant that was what I said, almost verbatim actually, and in doing so, lost a person very near and dear to me because I chose to believe in love and sacrifice over something like fear and guilt. That being the case, I found the comment very refreshing.
I don't know the context in which this was said, but I think I understand. It's human nature to desire justice, and this person was probably looking at those who believe that a thief, rapist, murderer can enter heaven simply by a change of heart and wondering where that justice is. I don't blame them, really, particularly when said belief is often accompanied by 'non-Christians don't go to heaven.'
The funny thing about only Christians going to heaven is that a whole lot of Christians have a mistaken understanding of what being a Christian means. A Christian follows Jesus, does the will of His Father and displays the fruit of the Holy Spirit (love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance). Those who do gain heaven are going to be meeting people that will cause them to proclaim "I didn't know you were Christian" and they will also be noting who is not there (church going, Bible thumping hypocrites ... perhaps like those who turned Mohatma Gandhi away from their church because he was the 'wrong' color, those who steal the bread of the labor of their neighbor by proxy, those who in their zeal to 'love' all people dismiss God's warnings about certain sins and declare that they were not really sins afterall).
I just noticed you are an atheist.
If I am not mistaken, this is a Christian only section and there are boards you can post on, but, wat da heck do I know

I prefer to believe this as well. Thank you.If Heaven exists, even if people in Heaven are still the same recognisable individuals they were on Earth, then they will still have been transformed into something much more wonderful:
'Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.' (2Cor 4)
So presumably the murderers, rapists etc - and all of us other sinners! - will have had that evil purged and eradicated by God, so that the original child of God, made in God's image will be restored.
Also, the victims will have been comforted, healed, and restored to their intended glory.
And those who long for the cold justice of revenge will have had the eyes of forgiveness opened by God.
So Heaven won't be full of resentful, hurt souls who feel God has neglected justice, but full of healed souls who are, in the words of the hymn, Ransomed, Healed, Restored, Forgiven.
Please God, let me, and all of those posting here, be received into that Heaven in Your good time.
