Reminds me of a recent discovery at our church. In reading old by-laws from the 1950's, there was shock all around to find out that our church had once made the decision: "Concerning Negroes, we will accept them into our congregation, but we will not evangelize to them."

And this was considered progressive! The modern-day shock over this idea is comforting, and the true irony comes in considering how many biracial marriages exist in the congregation of that same church nowadays. In fact, even our pastor is married to a woman of another race.

Which, he says, has caused him to lose some jobs, especially in the South. He has actually been told, "We won't have a pastor who's married to a (slur on southeast Asians I won't repeat.)"

As the stepmother of a half-Asian, half-European young man myself, I agree wholeheartedly with what was said by a friend on another site: "God made mixed-race kids extra beautiful to show people how stupid racism is."

To be fair, I do think atheists are welcome to post in WWMC, but I don't like having a newcomer come in and say I'm posting in the wrong forum. Or, that I should believe something he himself doesn't believe.

I am not offended simply by an atheist posting here. But I won't silently sit by and be mocked.

I have been a Catholic. When I was a Pentecostal I went to an encounter weekend.

I have been obsessed with sin and repented of sins I had never even heard of. Personal sins, generational sins, etc.

But it's not about what we do, it's about what Jesus has done.

2 Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Grace can be hard to accept! It's hard to accept that it's not about us, not about our deeds and doctrines, it's about Jesus.

my god....my heaven....my religion....

whether we agree or not, Jesus said there are rules, here and there
wheter we like it or not, in order to get from here to there, some thing is required of us
love... genuine concern for others, forgiveness, intercession, assistance, time, money, and talent...in some area, in some field, at some time and place

faith and God is not a smorgasboard...cannot take the pie and leave the meat and potatos....

If Heaven exists, even if people in Heaven are still the same recognisable individuals they were on Earth, then they will still have been transformed into something much more wonderful:
'Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.' (2Cor 4)
So presumably the murderers, rapists etc - and all of us other sinners! - will have had that evil purged and eradicated by God, so that the original child of God, made in God's image will be restored.
Also, the victims will have been comforted, healed, and restored to their intended glory.
And those who long for the cold justice of revenge will have had the eyes of forgiveness opened by God.

So Heaven won't be full of resentful, hurt souls who feel God has neglected justice, but full of healed souls who are, in the words of the hymn, Ransomed, Healed, Restored, Forgiven.

Please God, let me, and all of those posting here, be received into that Heaven in Your good time.
