• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm not even sure what this is but it's really weird.

Lately when I try to fall asleep, sometimes I feel the sensation of someone touching my forehead. There's nothing there when I open my eyes, and of course if I rub my forehead the sensation disappears. But also.. if I turn over to my other side, the sensation disappears but might start again shortly after, and oddly enough I experimented last night, I waved my hand in front of my forehead like 6 inches in front of my head and that also "interrupted" the sensation of being touched, like I swatted away an invisible thing that was touching my head, and it didn't come back for minutes, so it's not like an air current or anything like that. Simply waking up but remaining still I still feel the sensation, of something pressing so it's not like a hypnogogic dream where when you wake up all the dream sensations cease.

It's the weirdest thing and I have no explanation, and I don't know if it's connected but I've been having a lot of nightmares recently as well, and just trouble sleeping in general.

I can't tell if it's related to MS and just nerve damage (but why does waving my hand inches in front of my face 'interrupt" it? why does turning over "interrupt" it? I do have odd sensations of being touched on my back but changing position or moving my hand in the air around my back doesn't stop it not even touching the area on my back stops it, that one is for sure just.. part of the nerve damage from MS), spiritual attack or just.. all in my head.

I have no idea, but I prayed for you. Could this be schizophrenia? Regardless, I recommend speaking with a doctor, ideally one in the Christian faith.

no I don't think it's that if anything physical it'd be related to MS, since that can cause weird nerve impulses and sensations.

So, if it is related to MS, you still have to see a doctor about this. There is a Catholic Bible book that discusses how we can rely on medical doctors, if we are sick.

Matthew 9:12 (NIV): "On hearing this, Jesus said, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.’"

Sirach 38:1-15 (NRSV-CE): "Honor physicians for their services, for the Lord created them; for their gift of healing comes from the Most High, and they are rewarded by the king. The skill of physicians makes them distinguished, and in the presence of the great they are admired. The Lord created medicines out of the earth, and the sensible will not despise them. Was not water made sweet with a tree in order that its power might be known. And he gave skill to human beings that he might be glorified in his marvelous works. By them the physician heals and takes away pain; the pharmacist makes a mixture from them. God's works will never be finished; and from him health spreads over all the earth. My child, when you are ill, do not delay, but pray to the Lord, and he will heal you. Give up your faults and direct your hands rightly, and cleanse your heart from all sin. Offer a sweet-smelling sacrifice, and a memorial portion of choice flour, and pour oil on your offering, as much as you can afford. Then give the physician his place, for the Lord created him; do not let him leave you, for you need him. There may come a time when recovery lies in the hands of physicians, for they too pray to the Lord that he grant them success in diagnosis and in healing, for the sake of preserving life. He who sins against his Maker, will be defiant toward the physician."

Yesterday I kept feeling something crawling on my wrist. There's tiny flies that get in this time of year. But after a while I realized it wasn't an elusive fly, it was just some nerve acting up. However, if there actually is some presence doing this, I've heard that saying something like "leave in the name of Jesus!" out loud is usually effective.

Yeah nerve damage can cause a host of odd sensations like that, just the weird part was not physically touching the area but moving my hand as if swatting away an invisible hand touching my forehead and it stopped. That's the part that creeped me out lol.

I too had something similar a while back. Then I prayed if it was a spirit, he/she would go to where it belongs, and also that he/she would find peace in Christ. Then it stopped happening.

The thing that is also kinda weird was the nightmares preceded it, and I was praying for God to watch over my dreams and prevent the nightmares so I could rest, and that's when the touching my forehead sensations began, is it.. maybe not a bad presence but a good one that I'm pushing away? I dunno, but I get the feeling that I invited something into my sleep. The nightmares have been all earthly things for what it's worth nothing supernatural about them things like, being shot, taken hostage by terrorists, a toilet flooding and rotting out the floor instantly and collapsing a house (I suppose that one was a little less rational since water damage doesn't instantly rot out a floor and make it collapse), my mother walking directly in front of a speeding truck, etc.

This stuff is scary. Please talk to a priest or pastor about this. Very dark stuff you have experienced. I am not one to believe in much demons haunting people, but this might be important to talk to a priest, or at least a counselor.

Sometimes something that we eat may cause a nightmare. Will pray that things settle down and whatever it is, will stop, in Jesus' name. Blessings
