When a person has "gotton away from God". This verse is the most popular I know for re-establishing fellowship.

Confesssing that you have let things slip between you and God to God and what ever else you have a need to.

Once you do your part and confess it to him. He will do His part and forgive you and give you right standing with Himself again.
