• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello to all!!:amen::amen::clap:

I am so glad this forum is here, on live journal they only have a general sexual addiction community, but its not Christian at all so I really don't think they would know where I am coming from in a Christian sense.

Just to give a testimony of where I have been with my sexual addiction.

I at the age of 13 started to experiment with touching yourself, and then soon up graded to porn on the internet and through different late night tv shows. At the age of 13 as sick as this may sound my mission in life was to see a nude girl. As I have gotten older, I've had many many relapes. I would think one week I am free of the porn, and any other sexual pleasure, but then a few days later or even a month later I would return. Thats been the story of my addiction ever since. I can go for like a week or two weeks.

I use to be apart of a support group, but once when I was able to go two weeks with out touching yourself, porn or even lusting after girls at my school I was praised, and really told I was doing a good job by others in the support group. As much as I enjoyed hearing that, I took it to heart, and started to think that I should do this for my self rather then for God's Glory. Soon that was the thing that led me back to the trouble. So basicly I had a problem taking peoples compliments but not letting it go to my head.

Now I am trying again to leave the porn, but its a up hill battle. I am trying a web site called setting the captives free. If you are interested in this web site just go to {Moderator edit of link}I think thats the web site or just go to yahoo or google you should find it. The web site is a Christian based recovery program for any one to use. When you sign up you are assigned an accountability partner and you do daily bible lessons. The only problem I have with the site is its over the internet so some personal one to one interaction is removed. But otherwise its a great site.

God bless you all!!

You've found a good place to start. I think however that you have to pay something? to join or to purchase a book. That might require your parents' permission ... and a lot of humility, and willingness to let God grow you into the kind of man He wants you to be.
