But those people go to work and they pay income taxes, state taxes, county taxes, city taxes, sales taxes, and employee taxes (social security and medicare).
Thousands of migrants are not standing on the streets soliciting jobs. Haven't you heard about the raids at different meat-packing facilities and greenhouses? How about at hotels, construction, yard maintenance, etc.?Do you really believe that the guys standing out in front of Home Depot are paying income taxes?
I never said they were contributing to property taxes. When 10 families are crammed into one apartment; how much propterty tax is being collected, compared to how many of their children are crowding our schools?
I always thought US education was far behind in teaching languages other than English. Perhaps we should get on board with other countries and teach a second language from entry into school through graduation. For border states Spanish would make the most sense.Yes, that has been a huge chunck of the school problem and why our public schools do not compete with the rest of the world. Much of the world is built around one native language, or in places like Canada they had French as the language of Quebec and a secondary language of the country for centuries. Meanwhile, we think we can just accept people willy-nilly into our public schools that already have other issues yet are surprised when our schools lag behind the rest of the world.
As a person that once also spent an inordinate amount of time in ER rooms due to once acting as a living assistant to a Hypochondriac, I can say this also impacts our Health Care system to and was a huge motivation for forcing Obamacare down our throats. (The number of illegals using the ER as their primary care source and not paying for it). I spent many of my evenings in an ER room into the wee hours of the morning in San Jose, California in 2003-2004 at the main public hospital and half the place was speaking Spanish and the place was packed due to the amount of traffic it got. I'm sure the average waiting time in many places is up by 2 hours with all the illegal immigration.
If there are robberies and you see your refrigerator being floated across the Rio Grande or are told your goods are likely in Mexico -- they aren't being stolen by "illegal immigrants." Perhaps you could claim they are illegal tourists -- OTOH, we don't know if they came into the US legally, this is very possible. Regardless, they are being stolen by "local" gangs. I put local in quotes because they are located in another country but still live within a few miles of your homes. It also sounds as if some of these people you are describing live on the "wrong" side of the border wall -- that their property is too close to the border, so the wall had to be built on the US side of their homes. When you see someone crossing the border, with your property, or your neighbors property; and you take a guess at where they came from; it's more than a wild hunch.
My neighbor had his garage cleaned out in the middle of the night. One of the things that were missing was a Gator (a small utility vehicle). He called the police; and they told him that his property was probably in Mexico by now. They didn't intend to look for it. He told them that he wished that he had heard them and woken up. They told him that if he had woken up; he would have probably been dead.
This might not seem like a big deal for those in D.C., and don't have to live with it.
Then why post a link to the racial stats of the residents of the county in question in a thread about an attempted break-in?It's not OK when anyone does it; but it's easier to control and identify suspects, when they are U.S. citizens.
More secure borders means more security from crime. Melanin is not illegal.
The key word here is illegal. If there are robberies and you see your refrigerator being floated across the Rio Grande or are told your goods are likely in Mexico -- they aren't being stolen by "illegal immigrants." Perhaps you could claim they are illegal tourists --

It is a tough issue but, without more information, is more an issue that local law enforcement needs to fix.
I posted those stats to demonstrate how sparsely populated that county is. I live in an area that is predominantly Hispanic; but I don't see any criminal activity coming from my neighbors. Hispanic is not the problem; criminals are. My Sheriff told me that the biggest crime problem that he was facing was human trafficing; but that was before this fentanyl surge. His department had found several homes in our county that were crowded with people being held prisoner. Then why post a link to the racial stats of the residents of the county in question in a thread about an attempted break-in?
The key word here is illegal.
When you are met by a burglar in your house; you can accept his excuse that he is a tourist if you wish.
Yes we know; and no it's not possible.
There are only certain points where one can legally cross.
If the border was secure; this problem wouldn't exist.
There are no U.S. homes on the other side of any U.S. border wall. Biden halted the construction of the wall; and now we are paying for the materials to be guarded; as they lay there useless.
Local law enforcement is responsible for crimes committed in their jurisdiction, not the Feds. Yes, if they are committed by people crossing the border then the Federal government also needs to be involved. Not according to the U.S. Constitution.
The Feds are responsible for securing our national borders. Texas militias were doing it for free; but Obama put a stop to that.
Abbot is now doing a runaround on Obama's attempt to force Texans to live with these criminals, by funding Texas lawmen to arrest them for trespassing. Texans pay extra for that; as they pay for Biden's dereliction of duty.
Are you talking to me?The Texas National Guard and other State National guards who have come to the border have been financed by the federal government. To claim that the US is doing nothing when they are United States activated troops at the border is an outright lie.
Texans can defend their private property, and they can allow others to help them. Personally I think that local Sheriffs should work with local militia's to help them arrest trespassers.I don't know what kind of Texas militia you were talking about, but Loca militias have been associated with things like the insurrection and throwing tear gas from trucks at peaceful protesters. They have no right or jurisdiction over the border and Obama was right to stop them.
If he is in the U.S. illegally; he is a criminal.Just because he is a criminal does not mean he is in the US illegally.
Walls won't stop anyone. They will however impede anyone. Putting more technology and manpwoer to defend that wall can stop nearly everyone. This is false, there are houses on the other side of the border wall, as this article talks about.
Beyond that, there were walls before Pres. Trump was President. In fact, many of those against Trump's idea of walls all along the border (regardless of political affiliation) have no issue with walls where they make sense. The issue is, with as large as the border is, in many areas they make no sense. For example, there is this article (not sure if posted on this thread) where it states, "There is a border wall near his property, but migrants are able to easily scale the wall." Even in the OP, there is a picture of a hole in the border fence with the caption, "A gaping hole cut into the border fence between Mexico and the US reveals the ease with which migrants can cross the border illegally - regardless of the strict Title 42 rules." This has been a complaint about much of the new wall Pres. Trump has built, that it doesn't do anything to stop down people from crossing the border (as has been shown multiple times), if it doesn't just fall over.
I look forward to see what the new Republican controlled House puts forth, and how the Senate and President respond to it.I think Republicans -- who keep talking about the "open border" under Democrats -- are likely as responsible (if not more) for illegal immigrants trying to cross the border, particularly at a time that record numbers are being caught.
LOL! Do you know what a militia is? Texans need more border wall as well as more purple fence posts. Many cities and towns have "auxiliary police" but they should never, ever, ever be armed. Same for volunteer "militia."
Regulated had a different meaning when the 2A was written, than what some believe today. It means well trained. Do you think that you could persuade Biden to provide Federal funding for the militias?T the militia that I have observed here in the south had been the antithesis of well regulated. I wouldn't even want them to carry pocket knives.
In towns where I have seen auxiliary police forces they are supposed to be unarmed. Who knows if they have the training an objectivity to use a weapon as apparently as it should be used, almost never.
If our border can only be controlled by unregulated hordes of militia, many of whom have poisonous political views and some of whom are actively anti-government, it is not worth it to control the border.
It's ridiculous that the National Guard that has been sent to defend the border, has been sent unarmed, and can't engage the illegals.
"The woman told Melugin that after they failed to get into her house, which she has spent $13,000 upgrading after previous break in attempts, they successfully entered her neighbor's home, but fled by the time Border Patrol responded. "
Moment illegal migrants try to smash their way into Texas ranch house
Shocking security footage shows the moment the group of immigrants began kicking at the door of the home in Edwards County, but failed as the homeowner spent $13,000 upgrading her security.www.dailymail.co.uk
“Arms” had a different meaning too.Regulated had a different meaning when the 2A was written, than what some believe today. It means well trained. Do you think that you could persuade Biden to provide Federal funding for the militias?
"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials." — George Mason
