it all started when i moved to a different city even though i felt like god was leading me to stay where we were. i betrayed him by ignoring his will for my family. dealing with this guilt lead me to not going to church, drinking, smoking, cussing, and sexual sin. my marriage, thankfully, is strong. during this past year, i have felt empty and lost and want soooo much to be back in his arms. the problem??? i have asked for forgiveness but dont "feel" like i am back. when i go to church, i feel somewhat of an outsider ....as if i dont know what they are talking about. my brother-in-law says i did not mean it when i asked for forgiveness. i am not sure...it seemed like i did.

while visiting a church, the pastor pointed out hebrews 6:2 that states in the new living translation.... for it is impossible to restore to repentance those who were once enlightened-those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the holy spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of god and the power of the age to come-and who then turn away from god. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to bring such people to repentance again........

what does this mean for me??? i am so broken hearted over what i have done....mainly the fact that i completely ignored him every time he told me to stop! i miss him so much...but i cant seem to change. i am not drinking, smoke occasionally...and the sexual sin has been almost a year ago. but....it hasnt changed my lonliness or longing to be back.
any advice...or words of wisdom would be helpful!! enlighten me please!! thank you in advance! KC

Forget that unhelpful comment from your pastor, who doesn't seem to have a NT with the story of the prodigal son in it. Of course Jesus wil welcome you with great joy.

It may be the condemnatory attitude of the pastor.church that is working against you knowing that Jesus is still there for you.

I think it is best to disregard what your brother in law or anyone else says and just trust what the bible says and you know in your heart how you feel and it is between you and the Lord.

You said you are broken hearted over what you have done. This is the Godly sorrow that it talks about in

2Corinthians 7:10 "Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldy sorrow brings death."

Repentance means to turn from sin and turn to God. Godly sorrow for our sins will result in our wanting desperately to change and calling on the name of the Lord to help us to change.
Worldly sorrow is just a sorry for getting caught or sorry and making excuses, and then gradually going back to those same old ways.

We need the Holy Spirit to help us to overcome many sins, we cannot do it on our own. Ask the Lord to help you with some of the things you are still struggling with.

Our God is a loving God, He welcomes us back and wants us to stay and not stray away. Just be assured that when we confess our sin, He is faithful and Just and He forgives us and our sins are washed away. 1John 1:9

As for you not 'feeling' that you are back. Just read the Word, and just believe what God is telling you. Spend some time in prayer and just talk to the Lord, Start building that relationship back up with Him and then you will begin to feel closer to God again. Sometimes we are not always going to have the fuzzy feel good feelings, just know the truth and be at peace with the fact you are back in the fold and loved by our Father in heaven.

everyone makes mistakes. even though you ignored the leading of God, think of this as a valuable experience. if someone is about to go down the same path u did and do something out of the will of God, u can warn them.
God wants u back and when u come back, He'll welcome u with loving arms. JUST REMEMBER THAT FEELING LIKE UR NOT FORGIVEN DOESN'T MEAN U AREN'T. HAVE FAITH THAT GOD HAS LOOKED AT UR HEART AND KNOWS U ARE SINCERE.

AMEN!
Well spoken! It is most important to remember, as this sister points out, that "FEELING LIKE YOU ARE NOT FORGIVEN DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU AREN'T". Satan, to a large extent, still remains in control of our feelings, and he will do everything and anything possible to convince us that "salvation is a farce", "there is no way God can forgive us", "we are beyond redemption", "we have committed the unforgiveable sin", etc., etc., etc. Satan's primary tool, in this regard, is our feelings, so when dealing with our salvation, we MUST ALWAYS RELY on God's promises and ignore our feelings when they contradict God's Word. God promises are sure and eternal; our feelings often lie and change from moment to moment--especially when manipulated by the Evil One.

TRUST GOD ALWAYS!

I think that passage in Hebrews is missunderstood by alot of people. The first thing you have to do when understanding scripture is remember who the original reader is. He was writing to Jews here who were struggling with grace vs. the law. No where in this passage are we to assume that the ones he is speaking of were ever really saved or have a heart knowledge. The hebrews he was talking about had a head knowledge, and "tasted" christianity, but went back to observing the law.

Jesus loves you and will always take you back if you are truly repentant.

the hardest person to forgive is self.....
Work on it...and work on it some more.
Been there..........

You'll get a break-though.God knows your heart.
He's the only one you have to answer to.

What negative others say,is coming from satan.
Don't let God down.He never gave up on you.
And HE never will.

Start by forgiving yourself......

Ask God ,He hears your prayers n your heart.

We serve a God of 2nd chances,a Loving God.
Smile Jesus loves you,He died on that cross for your sins,
did He not?

alrighty then................

Praying for you

Great. But its not just a matter of not doing something, although that is important sometimes. We need to embrace the truth of what God has said. That is what our confidence ad security is really based on. The Scriptures given to you here should form the basis of you knowing that you are forgiven and fully accepted by God.

BLess you

He will take you back. I feel like Ive done the worst things and Im the crappiest garbage on earth alive and why would Jesus want that? Ones mans garbage is another mans treasure!

In my opinion, you will feel forgiven when you are not still convicted of this. If that makes any sense, I talk a lot and don't make sense

Both your brother and pastor are not telling you Truth. Humble yourself. Repent and ask for forgiveness. Then, stop sinning. Try as hard as you can. Find something else to do when temptation comes. Be completely humble, and then you will be in the position to receive God's Grace. Have patience. Don't give up. Just humble yourself and be loving to everyone and pray for all anger or anything you have against someone, and you will be better. Please remember, HAVE PATIENCE! Jesus will help you. Jesus will take you back. Do you think Jesus would just let you go after he went through all that pain and then got nailed on that rugged cross with all of that love for all of mankind? He loves you. Don't give up. Also, I don't want to seem rude, but it may be best to leave that church and find a new one. Ask God to lead you to a church. God Bless You.
