If you sin in a dream does that count against you on judgement day?

Hello,

I know this question sounds silly, but just curious whatever one thinks. We are held accountable for every thought and idle word aren't we? So does dreams fit into that mix as well?
MY FRIEND,

We have no control over our dreams, and God never holds us accountable for that over which we have not control.

Christ is not counting our sins against us.

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20

We are reconciled to God by the hope held out in the gospel (Good News) Christ died for our sins.

We are not even thinking when we are asleep. Even if we are, I'm pretty sure its not voluntary (not something we are aware of). Otherwise no one can escape this one.
I found when I drew close to God, my dreams were much better and less sinful than when I was in the world.
When I was in the world, I had all sorts of dreams you could imagine sinners to have, but when Christ came into my life, they were all eradicated one by one. Sometimes your life pattern, thoughts processes and activities during the day reflect in dreams, it still does not mean you are held accountable for your dreams by God.
It may just be a sign for you to increase your prayer life, or draw closer to God and resist the temptations of the enemy.

When I first moved closer to God and got rid of my smoking, drinking etc (though I was not a big drinker, never was). I had dreams where I was doing all these things, and even got tipsy in my dream. I was close to God at the time of this dream, and I was weirded out when I woke up.
But later realised that it was just scare tactics by the enemy to see if he could lure me back, but he failed. So many Christians (new and old) get tested in their dream, they face some sorts of sins and challenges. Some fall back into their sinful lifestyle when they feel the pressure is too much for them to handle. The yield to the oppression of the enemy which is sad.
But the ones who remain firm in God will be protected by Him. He will help them, and see them through regardless of what temptations they face and what trials they go through.
He says to call on Him, and He will answer. And He really does.

It's true that God is just when it comes to things that we have no control over but it is possible to control yourself in a dream...I've done it...and know of several people who do it still.

Hello,

I know this question sounds silly, but just curious whatever one thinks. We are held accountable for every thought and idle word aren't we? So does dreams fit into that mix as well?

I think yes. Dreaming is a way that we can test real life out in a less risky manner. I'm not a dream expert but I personally have experienced control over my actions while dreaming (some people call this: lucid dreaming). Like ephraimanesti said, though, God is amazing...He's not going to be unjust because of something you did that you had no control over. Like the Bible says, "God knows what's in the heart" even if you're in denial...

If you're doing things in your dreams that aren't Godly, chances are you need to work on such aspects in your real life.

Just listen to the Spirit...
If you feel like you had no control over your actions, cut yourself some slack...but if you feel like it's something that you need to work on that's transferring from your real life: work on it!

God bless!!!

A Tree Known by Its Fruit
(Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees who have said He has done his miracles
by the power of Satan-- blasphemous words and unpardonable! Jesus goes onto
to say...)

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart[g] brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Their own words condemned them.

"God now commandeth all men everywhere to repent because he hath appointed a day in the which he will judge the world by righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained, whereof he hath given assurance unto all men in that he hath raised him from the dead" Acts 17:30,31. "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to what he hath done whether it be good or bad" II Corinthians 5:10.

By our words we will be justified… that’s good news!

Romans 10:9-11
9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

Acts 13
38 “Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.
39 Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses. 40 Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:
41 “‘Look, you scoffers,
wonder and perish,
for I am going to do something in your days
that you would never believe,
even if someone told you.’
