Is a Dobro just a brand or is it a type of instument (or both like the Hammond Organ)? How is a Dobro different from other resonators?

I hear that there will be music in Heaven. Also I read in my Bible that time will be no more. At least not time as we know it. Sense timing and beat is a part of music, how can you have music with out it? Would you still have rhythm?

If you've ever heard Grand Ulena you would know that music doens't need rhythm (or melody).

But this is an interesting question. I can't imagine how anything will work without time. I think it might be possible for music to have a cadence without time.

Dobro is a patented brand and design that uses a different type of resonator system with one or three aluminum cones in a wooden soundboard and its's not your classic design guitar for the soundhole is in the center.

It's main feature is being louder than the average guitar.They make mandolins and banjos too.

Dobro is primarily used for slide guitar, country music, hawaiian and blues for it's distinct sound.

Actually for me rhythm is something different from time. Usually we associate rhythm with time for we measure rhythm in seconds(for example if a quarter note is=80 then it means there are 80 quarter notes in one minute)

But that system was introduced in the invention of the metronome and before they used time as they please.(esp Baroque music and earlier music.)

Maybe in heaven we will have a different system determining rhythm but rhythm will always be there.(i can't imagine dancing without rhythm)

BTW for me there is no such thing as music without rhythm because music will always have rhythm,music that you think that has no rhythm can be called as free rhythm and usually that is present in indegenous music.

It is probably only here in the US. Many stores open for a bit at midnight on Tues (or Mon night) so people can buy the new releases the minute they are available.

In the Philippines they just release an album as they wish at anytime they want.

I think it has to do with shipping schedules, and that kind of junk.

as for questions...

Why do 12 string accustics usually have a capo @ the 2nd fret?

I dont think its a standard for 12 string guitars to have capos, capos are there so that you wont have to bar too much especially in a 12 string because sometimes its harder to press in a bar due to the no of strings in use.

In short they make life easier for musicians that dont want to bar too much and its not a standard for 12 strings
