• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey you all. I would like to share a testimony with you to the Glory of God. I asked God, sincerely, "Is the m-word wrong?" I posted this on another thread. Anyhow, I fell in a sleep was given this scripture. Romans 12:1-2. Glory to God. He answered my prayer and it was so quick. I was amazed.

I have been studying this scripture and will compile some tips for you.

Romans 12: 1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

*Ok, you have to renew your mind. Read the word or try to make a point to incorporate it in your schedule. When you are tempted in your mind, repeat this scripture in you mind and say it aloud. This has helped me before.

*Eliminate things in your life that will induce you to be tempted, especially if you aren't strong. So, if you want to see a movie but you have found out there will be certain scenes, then you shouldn't go until you are strong and your mind is affected by such things.

*Also, when you are in the midst of the temptation, pray if your bible isn't around but def. remember some scriptures.

*And lastly, think of God's goodness and how you really want to do the will of God. We are made to glorify God and when we disobey we aren't doing this. Something else: When God let his son die for us, our sins. He didn't have to do that but because he loves us and doesn't want us to perish, he let the ultimate sacrafice be taken. His pure son Jesus. Remember he didn't have to but he is good to us and he loves us that much. Just think, he didn't want us to go to hell. We are such small creatures, but doesn't it show how good he is that he would even care about us in this way.

God made us, so why shouldn't we obey him? Why wouldn't you obey one that made you? Of course he knows what is best because he designed every part of our being just as it says in the bible that he knows how many hairs are on our head.

I mean, he really is more than worthy and the truth is, we aren't but he has deemed us worthy to be his servants. I am more than happy to serve him.

That is why you should do his will. Renew your mind, lean on him and not to your own understanding.

2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Feel free to add more scriptures and testimonies.

That's one of my favorite scriptures!! (It seems I tend to say that about a lot of verses.) Usually I apply it in terms of the "be not conformed to the world" part because I'll be talking about how Christians shouldn't conform to ungodly secular society. But the idea of being transformed by the renewal of your mind is important to sooo many aspects of Christian life. Thanks for the post!! It helps.

Being a heterosexual young man SUCKS when you aren't married, I can attest. In fact, lust for the female form is probably my main issue affecting my emotional/spiritual health. But then I realize, if that's the hardest problem I'm dealing with, most of the people in the world would love to be in my shoes. Until I find my wife, there are only two options: allow my flesh to rule me, or declare victory over my flesh!

Amen, reading the Scriptures is a positively brilliant way to overcome it. The devil runs away when you confront him with the Word of God! Jesus never fails
