Suppose that we find Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Charismatics, etc in Heaven.
This means:
1. The gospel they were taught was sufficiently used by God to bring them to saving faith.
2. The boundary of acceptable orthodoxy was wide enough to include them
3. the Holy Spirit was operative in their churches in spite of its teachings and practices
4. The practices that we considered abominable were not considered sinful to the point of death.
Would this also mean that ...
1. we wasted a lot of time and energy in our polemics against these groups?
2. we did not need to segregate ourselves away from them in our ministry to the world?
3. we did not need to be so fearful of their doctrine and practice?
I think many of us agree that there are those in the RC, EO, prosperity preaching churches who are saved by grace, even if they never leave their churches or come to an understanding of the True Gospel. So, all of the above is very possible, no?
what do you think?
