First off, this is my first post to this forum!! :)
Looks very nice, I think I'll be posting often as I am reading through my Lutheran Study Bible right now.

This picture may be Biblical, but, could anybody perhaps identify this scene?
Anybody recognize this?

Thank you all!
Quentin

There were no pictures in the Scriptures. Looks more like something from Pilgrim's Progress.

Didn't David take off the armor that Saul had given him before meeting Goliath on the battlefield? He didn't have a sword or shield either, right (just a slingshot and some stones)?

It's probably not the most historically accurate picture, regardless :p

That said, I can't help feeling like the fact that the sword is broken is significant. I would say after Goliath is killed, too, if it's a Biblical scene (I can't tell if the OP is curious what it is, and thinks it might be from the Bible).

The art work looks like Joan of Arc being dubbed a knight by a King. The kneeling one looks female, the King has symbols on his clothing, that match the "coat of arms of Joan of Arc," Joan was French, 1412 – 30 May 1431. It's not biblical, the art works is not from an illumination manuscript, & looks modern. An artist name is in the corner by hard to make out.

Joan of Arc," Joan was French, 1412 – 30 May 1431. Everything about his art says to me, Chivalry. See: National Geographic Society, 1969, The Age of Chivalry, p. 320-329, on page 322-323, a flag has the same symbol in blue and gold as the one on the King's clothing, also p. 326, on the royal cape of Joan's cornation. Thus, the are work in question, seems to be that from the Joan of arc time frame. :holy:

I grew up reading this comic strip. He had a wife named Aleta... a real knockout. I married a woman who looked just like her.... at least, to me. They had twin teen-aged girls, and a younger son, Arn.

My own "Aleta" at 65.
