My husband and i lead a home group for new believers and our current bible study is coming to an end. Im looking for a new study to go over that goes in depth about God for beginners. Getting to the real message and not focusing on the small details. I feel like learning about a relationship with God should come before all the technicalities.
Any good studies easy enough for beginners but not superficial or generic?
Looking for a 4-6 week study to possibly use for a revolving group?

The most profitable study about God would be from Scripture itself. If you have access to Nave's Topical Bible, look under "God" and go from there.

I see you are non-denominational, and being respectful of this I can give you a few ideas. Life Way Christian book store (on line) and in a store hopeful near you, has numerous study materials just like you what you are looking for. I have found that the denominational bias is not in these study group areas. I hope that helps.

I would suggest a read thru of the whole Bible first. This will greatly increase their knowledge of God and His plan for His human creation. This can be done with a moderator with the class asking and answering questions. A group study is a powerful tool. How can one start in the middle of the Bible and learn God and plan?

I'm looking for something along a four week course, meeting for an hour and a half per week. We lead a small home group for new believers and our church has asked us to come up with ideas for a series we could lead. It would befour weeks with revolving people. We are in a new but large church and we get new believers every week. It would be something we offered these individuals to help get them started on their walk with God.

The way I am seeing it is one week about the importance of reading the Bible and spending time in prayer, a week about the message of Christ, a week about basic bible knowledge, and a week about the fundamentals of Christianity. But I want something more for a discussion as I don't think lecture style is anything I'm into or many other people. I'm not set on those being what we go over specifically it's just my ideas.

I agree personal bible study is crucial for any new believer, or old. But four weeks isn't adequate time to cover the whole Bible lol

Also, in this four weeks, stress the importance of the message that Jesus gave to the Apostle Paul. This message is an explanation of what Jesus accomplished when He died on the Cross. This message is not found anywhere in the Bible. It is very important to know.

Luke 14:27-32 always comes to mind when the topic is something like, "new Christians". It's the parable about counting the cost. I'm not sure how strict you'd want to be about it but giving these new Christians an idea of accountability for what they're getting into could be helpful. What does Jesus expect from his followers?

I'd organize it as something like
week 1) What are the expectations for Christians.
week 2) How to meet those expectations.
week 3) What is being "born again" in practical terms?
week 4) The importance of being united with other believers.

For weeks 1, 2, and 3 you could give homework assignments (for those who plan to return) to find their own Bible verses or explanations relating to the topic to share for the next week to increase discussion and interaction.

I disagree. The easiest way to confuse a new believer is to start in the OT, then they hear all about the Law way before grace. A believer needs to know who they are in Christ and what the New Covenant is, before they can understand the OT and Old Covenant. That is my opinion.

Some learn about the law first and never move away from that mindset to the grace of the New Covenant. I actually think it can be damaging to some in the way of the law and not grace.

Our Bible study group just finished up an excellent study (and I found out there are some free videos on You Tube, if you want to check them out first). If you have Amazon Prime...there are even more free viewing options. It's Ray Vanderlaan...he's taking people on tours through the Holy land and putting Scripture into context, giving you a visual background as to the context of the passages.

Here's one example:
