Thread: Spirit's Song
Name: Ianthe Black of Tyrion
Gender: Female
Age: 35
Occupation: Commander/Trainer of the King's army
Appearance: Straight and shorter auburn hair that hangs just above her shoulders. Although it is mostly a dark brown; in certain light it cascades as a bright red. Her eyes are dark blue, but you have to be close enough to see the blue hue amid the black. Her skin is a soft ivory and her body is tall and firm.
Personality: She is laid back and hard to read, having learned early on to hide any facial expressions that might otherwise cause dilemma. She is driven by power and an obsession to control, however, she is not 'evil' nor is she 'good'. Her neutrality has won her over in many situations, and her leadership qualities has more or less gained her respect. She rules with a casual indifference to people's feelings though she is more distant than actually cruel, believing the harder she is on her soldiers the better they will be, and she only consistently criticizes for their benefit. She is good, very good at what she does, but is not overly confident knowing her weaknesses can easily be brandished and instead strives towards modesty.
Background/History: There have been numerous stories behind Ianthe's background and childhood though no one has ever actually found out what the true history pertains to. No one even knows if her name truly is Ianthe Black or if she really is thirty-five, but the rumors grow the most. They tend to range from 'she was born into nobility or royalty, kidnapped by her elder, jealous sister, and tossed onto a far away land where she was then sold into slavery and ended up almost beaten to death in Tyrion at the steps of a General' to 'she came from natives who were thieves, murderers, bounty hunters, pirates, etc. but most of all, witches. They skewered any innocent blood they could while traveling across the world until eventually Ianthe was persecuted for her strange and demonic powers and stranded in Tyrion on her own where she ended half starved on the steps of a General'.
Whichever story is true (or not true) they all agree on one thing -- she ended up broken and delirious on the steps of a General and eventually joined the soldiers of the King's army at a young age. There she met Raven Galstrom -- the commander of the knights. Not even she could explain her relationship with him, and with rumors flying left and right about the mysterious woman knight and the strong leader, it all became balled up into one. Though she never truly admitted it, Ianthe resented Raven and his position of high authority and power that she so desperately yearned for. Years passed, and she fought harder and trained longer, and became exceptionally good, but it was never enough.
And then the fateful day came when Raven decided to leave his leadership behind (spontaneously), and in doing so, passed on his rights to Ianthe. Again the rumors began to buzz and before long it was assumed her and the former leader had it out, one on one, when Ianthe rang victorious in the end, sending Raven scattering away. She never commented on these, making people wonder what really happened between those two or if it had anything to do with them at all; so the rumor stayed until it eventually evolved into a story.
Now that is where she remainds -- the commander and trainer to the King's soldiers, lavishing in the power she so desperately craved. She is, at the moment, training the knights in the newly introduced muskets.
Misc: Ianthe is referred to as 'Black' by everyone. In fact, only the people she is the closest to (which isn't many, and is very rare) call her by her actual name. It doesn't bother her, and she responds to either one just the same.
