I wrote years ago -- and then I had kids!

Has anybody else gone through this? You loved to write, had the time -- and then you had kids (or graduated high school, got a job or.......fill in the blank!!)!

Do you find the time now or do you put your writing on hold?

It doesn't matter if you are trying to write professionally or just for fun. You're still a writer either way! And I still want to hear your answers! :)

Oh, how I used to love to write. :) Still do. :) :) Kids, job, all that; they do suck up all spare time. What got me started again was taking English Composition as a distance learning class. It gave me a great excuse to take time out for writing, "Sorry, I've got to do my homework for my important college class." Now I have a few essays written and I was just about to post a new thread here when I saw yours and decided to answer. It was fun, thanks. :D

You know, my girlfirend once guilted me into laying down my pen because she said I didn't make enough time for her. Well, I laid it down for about six weeks. Then I became so irritable, so monsterous, so filled with rage and flooded with negativity that she begged me to write again. I, being the stubborn fool I am, refused--for weeks I continued my spirl into darkness, plunging deeper and deeper into the murky waters of creative stagnation. Then I started writing again and everything's been cool ever since. :)

Honestly, though, I write about an hour or two a day. I want to write more, but when I do, it comes out all blah.

If you are a writer, you cannot stop. You can NOT put it on hold. IF you are truly a writer in the sense that writing is how you process, explore, think, imagine, create... giving it up is giving up the beauty of your mind. So even if it means taking 10 minutes out of your day to dive right into a scene or describe a small object... the daily habit will keep you going. It's hard. I hate doing it all the time, honestly... but I'm a writer. And that's what we do.

Please don't say that. I know you probably ment in in the best light, but... yeah, just don't say it. Satan has been tempting me with this very idea. Ugh, I feel terrible. Sorry, I shouldn't have even commented. :(
