  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

“I will bless the Lord who has counseled me;
Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night.
I have set the Lord continually before me;
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will dwell securely.
For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol;
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.
You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” (Psalm 16:7-11 NASB1995)

To bless, biblically speaking, has to do with speaking reason which confers benefit, i.e. what is beneficial from a biblical and spiritual perspective. It is the opposite of cursing. So, if we are blessing God, we are not only praising him and thanking him for who he is, and for all that he has done for us, but we are speaking truth about him which is beneficial spiritually to those who will listen. And we are living the lives that he designed and purposed that we should live for the glory and praise of God, in death to sin and obeying God.

For we are not truly blessing God if all we do is mouth empty words of praise to him but while we go on living in sin, and not in walks of obedience to his commands, deliberately and habitually living in direct opposition to who he is and to what he did for us in sending Jesus Christ to die on that cross for our sins. We are not really worshipping the Lord, either, if all we do is sing words about praise to God but while we keep on living in sin and for self and for our own selfish desires, according to our own will and purpose for our lives.

And, in this context, what should we be blessing God about? He counsels me, and he instructs me, even in the night, which he surely does. He teaches me his Word in the correct biblical context, and he leads me in the way he has for me to go, so that I will follow him in walks of obedience to his commands, and so I will not walk in sin, but so I will live for him. He makes known to me the path of life so that I will continue to walk in his ways, in his truth, in righteousness, and in surrender of my life to do his will.

And so I thank him and I praise him. For, although I was born a sinner, with a sin nature, separate from God, and not able within my own flesh to be acceptable to God, God in his mercy sent Jesus Christ (God the Son) to die on a cross. In his death, he put our sins to death with him so that, by faith in him, we will now die to sin and live to God and to his righteousness, in walks of surrender and in obedience to our Lord and to his commands. And he promises to those who obey him that we have eternal life with him.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

A Believer’s Prayer

An Original Work / July 31, 2012

With my whole heart, Lord, I pray
To be Yours, and Yours always.
Lead me in Your truth today.
May I love You, and obey.
Lead me in Your righteousness.
When I sin, may I confess;
Bow before You when I pray;
Live for You and You always.

Love You, Jesus, You’re my friend.
Life with You will never end.
You are with me through each day,
Giving love and peace always.
You will ne’er abandon me.
From my sin You set me free.
You died on that cruel tree,
So I’d live eternally.

Soon You’re coming back for me;
From this world to set me free;
Live with You eternally.
Oh, what joy that brings to me.
I will walk with You in white;
A pure bride, I’ve been made right
By the blood of Jesus Christ;
Pardoned by His sacrifice.
