Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came and spoke to them saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, babtizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen
"I will be with you," is one of the most meaningful statements that God has revealed to us. The risen Jesus says this to His disciples before he asends to heaven. He tells them, "go and make disciples." He gives them a promise, I am with you.
In the Old Testament something similar happened to Joshua, who succeeded Moses as the leader of Israel. God gives Joshua a charge, go and take the land I have promised to you. He gives Joshua a corresponding promise:
"As I was with Moses, so will I be with you, I will not fail you or forsake you."
Scripture [Joshua 1:1-5]
At times of loss, change, and disorientation, God speaks this gentle word of commitment that makes all the difference. Loved ones die, eras of life pass, and familiar things are lost to us, but the Lord is constant. You are just as precious to our Lord as was Joshua and the twelve. Christ is with you too.
Take a moment and repeat the Lord's promise to yourself, and let it sink in.
"I will be with you, I will not forsake you."
