  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

...just for a while. I'm seeing alot of things that are really bothering me. I can feel it wearing away at my heart and I don't want to say things I'll need to repent later.

I may come in to read a bit and to see if anyone needs extra prayers, but I won't be logging in or posting.

Peace be with you.

I know the feeling, Sandy. Believe me, I do.

I'm really battle-weary with the constant, never-ending attacks on the Catholic Faith myself. I get to the point every so often where I'm ready to throw my hands up and walk away. It's easier to let them believe the lies and the misconceptions than it is to fight with them. They will anyway.

I understand the need to take a break every now and then. God's been very patient with me when I can't take it anymore - and very good about calling me back when there's something I need to do. Don't sweat it; take the time you need. We'll remember you.

Zoo:

Don't make me hurt you. It won't be pretty.

Go play with the kids, get rid of the last of the Christmas sugarfest, and do some heavy-duty snoozing. I'm beginning to think everyone here is on an insulin rollercoaster and it has made them all cranky.

I think I'll fix a huge pot of porkroast and sauerkraut at the Pub. It will be the sugar antidote!

Peace,

Zoomom, Peace be with you.

A break is a good thing. A time for reflection and prayer alone. Don't let what others write in here bother you. As Wols wrote, there are many here who attack Catholicism or simply misunderstand it. It seems that one of the main purposes of this forum is to clear up misunderstandings and find guidance on questions of Faith.

Another purpose, for some, is apologetics. Keep in mind that you cannot instantly change the thinking of a person. But you can plant the seeds of change. There are many posts, by both Catholics and non-Catholics, which make claims to be the absolute answer or reason behind a belief or doctrine. That absoluteness is too often solely in the heart of those posting. We are a living Church, guided by the Holy Spirit and constantly striving in the practice and understanding of our Faith.

Those who misperceive Catholicism may come to understand it and possibly embrace it, eventually. But it will not happen overnight, or perhaps even for years or ever. That doesn't mean that the seeds planted won't eventually, through prayer, reflection and study, come to fruition.

Catholicism is an incredibly beautiful Faith. Embrace it. Rejoice in it. Practice it. Keep in mind that Catholicism doesn't teach that it is the sole road to heaven, only that it is the clearest road. There are many paths to heaven, thank God.

May God Bless you and keep you. May His Spirit shine upon you and guide you.

God Bless and stay safe.

I am glad I am not the only one that feels this way.
