  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think I found my pediatrician :) And question...

So my DH just called me. His company just took on a new client and it's a new ped's office on the other side of town. DH called to tell me that this new ped broke away from another ped clinic of 6 doctors (of which this ped brought in 40% of their buisness) because he didn't agree with their stance on vax.

Turns out this ped that DH will be working very closely with is very pro anti/delayed vax!!! I am soooooooooooooo excited. AND he's willing to take us on as new patients!!!

So my question is, should I meet with the doc before giving birth? Or should I wait until after bubs is born?

I don't know what to tell you. I didn't meet with our docs because we always went to a family practice so the same dr. that treated Bart and I treated our kiddos.

That is awesome. Pirate was seen by the new dr. in our practice and she got the point very quickly when reviewing Pirate's vax records that we delayed with him and she was cool with it.

Meet him before! Have a list of questions for him and he'll most likely ask you a few questions too. IF you're comfortable with him, go with him. You might find that you don't really click or something is off so you'll have time to look around
I met my ped before (per my OBGYN's suggestion) and he came to visit us in the hospital after the kiddo's were born. He answered any/all questions we had and held the kiddo's, checked them out etc. It was really nice!

That's awesome!

I've heard we need to meet before or 'soon after' since we'll only be in the care of the pediatricians at the hospital where I give birth for the same amt of time I am "committed" to the OB/Midwife ward...

We haven't had time to seek anyone out really though, but we've gotten a few leads. I need DH to start making calls. I wish I could but I can't.

I have often seen pregnant couples waiting in the lobby for an appointment with one of the doc's at our peds office. I wished I had met and approved of my ped before going through the frustration of trying 2-3 before finding dr. right.
Now I love my Ped, and it is of paramount importance that whatever insurance we are with at the time allows us to go to him.
