  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Has anyone ever made these?

I'm just wondering if they can be made on a regular sewing machine or if you have to have something special to sew the little see-through windows onto the fabric. Also, in the example you'll see that the back has a list of everything that's included inside the pillow. How is that accomplished? Are there certain fabrics that you can send through your computer printer?

Here's an example of one in case you don't know what I'm talking about.

jen, this pillow is very, very easy to make on a sewing machine! the technique is called 'reverse applique'.

let me know if you need directions.

the manufacturing lable can be printed out on a laser printer using specially treated fabric. they sell packets of this fabic at craft stores like Jo-Ann's.

I made a couple of them using flannel and it wasn't hard at all.

I'm going to attempt to use fleece next and see how that goes. My sewing machine is old and unsophisticated, so it may not do as well with the thicker fabric. We'll see.

Let me know what you mean by "reverse applique".

in normal applique the edges of the design piece are turned under, and then it is laid on top of the background piece and stitched on to the background.

In reverse applique, the position of the design piece and the background are reversed. so the edges of the background are turned under and then appliqued to the design piece. that's why they call it reverse applique.
