What are opinions on this one? It looks to be a great movie in itself but it doesn't look to follow the book at all as far as I can see. But then it HAS been about 20 years since I read the book.

I've seen the standee poster with the credits listing at my local cinema. One of the credits is "suggested by Isaac Asimov's book". Even a loose adaptation usually says "based on", not "suggested by", so I think your impression is probably correct. The "3 Laws of Robotics" (and perhaps some of the characther names) may well be the only recognizable Asimov element(s). This looks more like a vehicle for Will Smith to kick some robotic butts and make wisecracks.forgivensinner001 said:What are opinions on this one? It's been years since I read I, Robot but the book is not about an army of robots turning on man. It really is about a robot charged with murder. I can't remember how it went but the book was nothing like the movie looks to be. I am, however really looking forward to the movie because it looks to be great anyway.Anti-Fear said:I am sure it is going to be a great movie judging from the trailer. I am thankful that it is bringing attention to literature and the book. More kids will read the book.
I read the "I, Robot" short story long ago in Russian language. I do not remember any armies of robots running after people like the trailer suggests it was all on a much smaller scale.
