  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Uh. First, a rant about FrontPage.

It is completely useless. It is awful with HTML. It adds heaps of extra coding, which slows the page's loading time, and renders awfully in some browsers. It's annoyingly IE-specific. My advice is, if you don't know HTML and need to use an editor, use Dreamweaver. It's much better with the coding.

Now your question: If I understand correctly, you want a form-style object that people can enter information into, which is then sent to your email address.

PDF files aren't the best way to do this. An email form would be much better and much faster to load on people's computers. What type of webhosting do you have? If it's a free site (like geocities, or angelfire), then the best way to set up an email form, would be to use an external server. There are loads of sites that let you send email through them. If you have your own domain name and paid webhosting, you can easily configure a PHP or perl file to use your host's mail server to send you an email.

So uhh... what type of webhosting do you use?

Ok.....all I have is frontpage 2002 to use, there are no funds left to get anything else so that is what I'm stuck with, it's been years since I've done a webpage, let alone html, lol......as for the PDF I have our welcome card that we hand out on sunday nights to the young adult and I have it in PDF format so they can fill it in online just like they do in person and I need to know how to do it in this manner. I know there are other and better options, but this is how our pastor wants it done.....As for webhosting we went through geocities and purchased a domain......I know nothing about PHP, I don't even know what PHP is, lol......I learned html 10 years ago in a high school computer class and I only learned the basic commands to insert a picture and change fonts so please forgive me for my ignorance, but I'm the only person that knows how to use a computer in our whole group (actually I'm more into building and troubleshooting systems so I'm trying to learn)......

The PDF variant is not good at all, because the free version of Adobe Acrobat that most people use is for reading only and will not let entering info.

Thare are far more adequate decisions like an HTML form.
I have our communications card scanned and wanted to put it just like it is on the site, that's why I wanted to use PDF format.....am I able to put forms in any place on the cards I want? If so or if not, how do I go about doing this?

ok, don't ask me how I did this, but I used the communications card and figured out how to put the forms in the right place and then I used the webhosting e-mail form code to send the information through the webhosting server......*shrugs* I don't know what I'm talking about, lol......but I am learning :)

Ok, After many hours of work and wracking my head off the wall I got the forms setup and then I had to copy the code out that was needed and put it into a blank html document along with what yahoo's code.......frontpage was trying to create it's own log files on the site and it wasn't working because of the restrictions, but anyways, I ended up copying the card directly from MS publisher and pasteing it into frontpage and it treated it all as text so now the file size isn't so large.......

I don't remember who told me to use forms, but thank you because that suggestion got the wheels turning :) I just dont' have the energy to read anymore.....time for a nap :)
