I need some help.

I would be very thankful if you could give me your opinion on a situation I have. I have been tempted to seek a priest for sometime now to ask for his help on my situation. I have yet to partially because I am agnostic but mainly because the situation is somewhat (for lack of a better word) crazy. I will tell you the situation and perhaps you can tell me your advice and also how you think a priest would react if I told him this.

My situation is rather ad normal (to say the least) so I know my words will be meet with at least a small amount of skepticism. I beg of you to consider the amount of help you could give to a confused youth compared to the cost of being a cyber punks joke.

As far back as I can remember I felt small "tingling" feelings brush along the surface of my skin. I always thought it was normal and not worth mentioning until roughly when I was 13 the "tingling" turned into strong jolts of a strange "energy" feeling. These jolts would cause minor seizures which would last for a few seconds at most. At first the "energy" seemed to come at random times and make me jerk about and make a strange noise as all the air from my lungs was expelled through my clenched mouth (this was very embarrassing as you can imagine). I don't wish to make this post into a mini novel so I will skip ahead 5 years to the present. I still get the "energy" feeling but I have over the years learned to control it. I used to have at least 5 unexpected seizures a day and now I enough control over them to the point that I only have roughly one unexpected a week. I can also now cause the "energy" feeling to rush through my body and cause a seizure at will (I did not mention but having jolts of strange "energy" rushing through me is a rush which is hard to beat and I have become somewhat addicted to it). I can also now flow "energy" through me with out causing seizures, this has an interesting affect when allot of "energy" is gathered at one spot. The saturated area loses most of its feeling except for the overwhelming feeling of the energy. I could go on for a very long time describing it but I think that is enough for now.

I have gone to psychologists and doctors in order to find an explanation to my situation but after several MRI's EEG's and therapy sessions, the combined lot have told me it is most likely physical, the EEG's pick up nothing, and they have no clue what is happening to me. They tell me not to worry because it does not seem to harm me at all, except for the time I received a very odd burn on my back after a very nasty "energy" rush there. I only roughly told them what I told you above (I don't think I told them I could concentrate the "energy" though, and only one new of the burn and she was the least informed on the rest), I never told them the whole truth for fear of them seeing me as a freak.

This part is by far the weirdest so I'll just say it. I seem to display physic like tendencies. I'll list some of the things I seem to be able to do but I wont give any examples for fear of making the post to long. I've controlled the actions of insects, done impossible things with dice and cards, seen into other peoples minds, magnetized metal by touching it, and knowing things before they occur. As I said this part is the weirdest and I have allot of trouble writing this down so I would request that you not slander me by calling me a liar, simply saying something like I'm insane would sting less.

I have only told the tip of the iceberg to you because I do not want to take up anymore of your time. I thank you for reading my post and I would be very thankful if you would tell me your opinions and also how a priest would react.

I think it depends on what kind of priest you get to know what reaction you'll get. Maybe your best bet would be to speak with a priest who specializes in exorcism, just to talk, not to act.

Do these things scare you? Does it feel evil in any way? Are you looking to rid yourself of these things?

There is no priest who is a specialist in excorcism. Although the church does have a few left they are not all that easy to find and certainly arent in local parishes.

I would tell you to find a priest and just go talk to him. I'm not entirely sure what he would tell you. Im sure he would ask you to be baptized if you haven't and would probly want a few sessions to talk to you just to get to know you.

Priests have open ears and would be more then willing to listen to you and give you sound advice. I would probly seek the advice of a few priests until I found one I felt comfortable with.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. If you feel like speaking with a priest is what you want to do go for it ! They won't think that your are crazy and will give you the time you need and offer you help.

Personaly I couldnt tell you what it was without knowing better and spending time with you. If you have any question though feel free to PM me and keep me informed !

OK your MRi came back Negitive, Which is Good.

You should seek a medical professional that could maybe see if the "Current" or "Energy" can be detected.

Before going to a Priest, I would seek the correct Medical or Scientific Solutions to your issues.

I am not even sure what you would expect a Priest to do in this case anyway?

As for the Controlling Insects, and other things. You might want to keep a journal or some such, to test the accurcy of your "Visions" as well as maybe contact other "Physics" that would be willing to talk with you about this, and maybe evaluate the Validity of your "Powers"

I don't know for sure that a Priest or Pastor can help you with your problem, but if you are looking for peace of mind and want to know if The Lord loves you then it is time to see a Priest or Pastor. You can also PM me if you like.

Hi Jenk. I've actually delved into this subject a little bit lately. As christians we certainly believe in a spiritual realm but at the same time don't easily dismiss naturalistic explanations. But there is something I'd like to bring to your attention. There is one interesting case in the New Testament where a girl didn't show the normal signs of demon oppression. Instead she had special gifts, perhaps similar to the ones you describe.

Acts 16:16 Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17 This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” 18 She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.

I realize there's one poster here that's advised you to go see a psychic. I trust you probably realize this is not a christian and he/she shouldn’t be posting here. I assume you’re posting here because you want to here answers from a christian perspective. I wish this poster would respect that. Psychics are not something the Bible recommends. There are plenty of passages to demonstrate this if you’re interested.

At any rate, I suppose we could infer from the above passage that not all gifts are desirable. If indeed no medical solution can be found for what’s happening to you I would seek out God’s will through reading his word. I would also seek a church the preaches His word.

Thank you for all the replies. I must apologise as my reply may be rather long as I want to reply to ever ones helpful comments.

As Brother_Justin said I think priest who specialize in exorcism are fairly rare currently. I would most likely seek out a priest, preferably in a confession booth (The privacy appeals to me), in a random Catholic church (I live in a city so I have a few I can easily get to).

Do these things scare you? Does it feel evil in any way? Are you looking to rid yourself of these things?

They scare and confuse me to no end. I see myself as a man of science. I have high marks in my sciences (100% in Bio being the highest in grade 12) and I believe everything has an explanation that can be discovered eventually. The problem with my situation is that no one has an explanation in the several areas of medicine I have sought help from, that is way I'm turning to religion currently to see if it may hold a clue. The confusion and fear take a large toll on me, last night I got very up set during a shower and simply collapsed on the floor crying and pulling on my hair. It is fairly embarrassing to tell that on the web, but it feels good to let that out. Even though it drives me slightly insane sometimes I would never willingly give it up. One of my doctors offered me pills that may suppress the seizures but I declined his offer. The "energy" actually comforts me when I want it to, one of the first things I learned to do with it was to wrap it around me like a soft pulsating comfort blanket. It calms and fortifies me. I don't "sense" any evil from it at all, but to me the world is made of grey anyway not black and white.

They won't think that your are crazy and will give you the time you need and offer you help.

I had an EEG and also a two day EEG (that was not fun). They were monitoring my brain waves but found nothing out of the norm when I seizured. They were looking for the electrical patterns of my brain waves so it may be that their instruments were not tuned to pick up what I have. I'll do some research and see what instrument would be the most useful in detecting this. Thanks.

For awhile I was tempted to start a journal but then the fear of someone stumbling upon it stopped me. I also had a couple of phases of trying to ignore it entirely, so that also lead to the demise of any journal I tried to start. I wont go to a psychic because I don't know of any except for the up stairs $20 an hour psychic, and I personally believe if they had any psychic talents they would not be over the local pizza shop telling people of their future lovers. I've also done some research into people claiming to have experienced psychic events but they don't relate to my "energy" or some of my other "talents". This hits me fairly hard as it makes me feel like I'm a freak among freaks.

I did come here for a Christian view point, but I do not mind if people of other beliefs wish to give helpful advice and support.

Perhaps I could suggest some helpful thoughts in this area. Science and the supernatural have always intrigued me. So much so I recently chose it as my subject matter in a position paper. It went into demon possession a little bit. (if youre interested I could send it to you). I too believe everything has an explanation, I just dont believe everything has a natural explanation. Science is a wonderful thing, but it is limited to the natural realm. It cannot verify, falsify, nor even detect supernatural phenomena. If a miracle (an addition to natural processes) were directly observed, science would have to assume it was natural. Natural laws are inferred though observation, thus all observations must be must be assumed natural. This philosophical concept is call by some, methodological naturalism. Most scientists agree it is essential to scientific investigation.

The problem is, what if something supernatural occurs? Science would be quite misleading. To insist on finding an answer through science is to rule out the supernatural a priori.

Anneliese Michel (the real Emily Rose) was diagnosed with epilepsy and treated with several medications. Some believe these treatments may have contributed to her death. Not that these medications arent necessary at times, but if the diagnosis was wrong based on false philosophical presuppositions, these medications may not have been necessary.

Will do. The Bible has so many answers, but many reject it on the basis of science. The main reason, of course, is its miraculous content. Science and miracles just dont mix. This is a huge stumbling block for so many people, especially scientists.

Thank you again Calminian for your support, and I would be interested in reading your paper. You have an interesting view of science and miracles, I'll spend some time musing on it.

This is one of the reasons I turned down a doctors offer to give me a drug which may stop my seizures. Receiving a drug cocktail from a doctor who doesn't know what's wrong with you is unwise.

No one in my house hold or extended family that I know of has been in a cult. In fact most of my extended family is ultra religious (to the point were one of my aunts wont let her children read or see Harry Potter because of witch craft). Interestingly enough one of my sisters said to me once that when she went to church she felt funny warm glows. This had me very interested as you can imagine and I asked her some questions about it. I was of course trying to compare her "glow" to my "energy", but she found it extremely difficult to describe and I didn't push her to far (Due to a problem during her birth she has a frightingly low I.Q.).

Once you do, maybe whatever is bothering you will go away.

I really don't want it to go away. I'm addicted to it despite the confusion it puts me through. I once described my fear and confusion to my girlfriend like this: You find $10 on the sidewalk as you walk to work, "Lucky me!" you say. Next day you once again find $10, "wow!" you say. On the third day you once again, on the same slab of concrete, find......$10. This continues for five years...always finding $10 in the same spot. No one else ever finds $10 there. You would no longer be saying "WOW, Lucky me!", you would be saying "What is going on?, is someone doing some sick experiment on me?, should I call the cops?, should I ignore the money?, is some stalker coming for me?".

I have an exam I have to finish studying for so I have to run, but thanks again for all your helpful posts.

If I recall correctly, you said that you had never told the doctors all the "symptoms" you experience.

I would suggest you do some research and find out who the best doctors are in diagnosing this type of situation. Then tell them everything you know about what you are experiencing.

I have always found it to be very difficult indeed for someone to solve a problem when they don't know the facts.

As far as keeping a journal of the events in your life, do so. Keep the details for record so that the info can be used to determine details of what you are experiencing, and hopefully, the cause.

Some people seem to think that paranormal occurences are "demonic" or evil.

I do not believe that.

Christ, Himself, did wonderful miracles that all involved some form of paranormal abilities.

He went on to say that if we had enough faith that we could do all those things that He did. He said we could move mountains by ordering it to move, if we had enough faith.

He walked on the water. He "teleported" himself from place to place, especially after His resurrection.

Again, He said we could do all these things if we only had the faith.

I am not saying that all such things are of God. I am saying that if you do have some of the "psychic" capabilities that you described it is not necessarily evil.

Remember all the prophets who "had visions", saw things before they happened, etc. All from the bible. Neither am I saying that you are a prophet. I am simply saying that you do not need to feel guilty about this, until you understand what is happening and why it is happening to you.

For starters, get back to the medical community and tell them the whole truth.

Your situation sounds very much like the movie "Powder." Do an imdb.com search to find out about that movie if you have not seen it. IMDb stands for Internet Movie Database.

Have you tried to find a university that has a department that does research into the paranormal? You might find some help in such a program.

I am not going to be so quick as some have been to attribute your situation to demon posession, but I will join with those who say that your relationship to God needs to be rekindled. You may find your current situation titillating, but it is the eternal destiny of your soul which you should be more concerned with.

You've sought medical help, but you've turned down medication, and you don't really want to be cured because you're addicted? Is that the gist of it?

I think you first have to start by acknowledging that what you are suffering from is not good. And it is making you confused, even to the point where you are relying on it as part of your identity. Maybe you are addicted to it, as you are so used to it being a part of your life, and so reliant upon it that you are afraid of what you will be if you no longer have it.

There is no need to rely on this condition - it does not define who you are.

Have you ever dabbled in the Occult?

I do not think many doctors would consider your theory because it would be highly unlikely for the human body to react to these currents the way mine appears to be reacting. Though your theory is unlikely, I'm in an unlikely situation so I will spend sometime in considering it. Do you have any ideas on how I could test your theory? If you need more information to help form an experiment feel free to ask.

I would like to experience it, but I can't. I can't force my self to believe when I don't. It would be nice though.

As an Agnostic I find it hard to think in a religious mind set, and I ask your forgiveness because of this. It is unfair that I have asked you all for a religious view point, yet at the same time I find it difficult to truly appreciate religious comments. I only hope you can show me Patience as I open my mind to religious ways of thought.

I can not and will not tell them about the other symptoms. I fear that if I do I will ruin any chance of leading a normal life. If other people knew of my freakish talents then I would no longer be Jenk to them, instead I would be the freak which one should be careful of. I remember once discussing some of my talents with my girlfriend. I forget how the conversation went entirely (it was a few years ago), but near the end of it she looked at me and I felt and saw fear in her. She then said "I would never want to be your enemy", this deeply wounded me. I never want to cause fear in my loved ones (or anyone for that matter), I still wonder why she said that. Perhaps when I'm done a few years of university I'll feel ready to explore medical options again, and this time holding nothing back, but for now I don't want to risk destroying my life.

I fear a journal would have to much of a negative impact on my sanity. Simply by thinking of some of the strange things I've done I feel overwhelmed, confused and alone. If I had a journal which I could flip through and see every messed up paranormal freakish acts I've done then I would most likely have mini break downs every time I looked at the journal. It would be wise to keep a journal but in the end I think I simply lack the courage.

I remember seeing that movie once. It was several years ago and I don't remember much of the story line or what powers the main character expressed. I remember he had the ability to magnetize metal and I also think he was an empath if I remember correctly. I find it interesting that I also have been able to magnetize metal, but not nearly to the degree that he could (weakly magnetizing my girlfriends cutlery at a restaurant seems to be the limit of my ability). I think the movie was entirely based in fiction but I'll check it out and see if there was any truth in it. Thanks.

I looked on a few university web sites once looking to see if there was a Prof I could contact about my situation. I was afraid of contacting a Prof about it so my search was half hearted and didn't turn up any results. I may seek some help from a Prof when I'm in university and get to know a few.

I do not mind you playing psychiatrist, especially since you bring up interesting advice and points. I want to be cured of this as much as I want to be cured of my leg or my eyes. I simply want to understand what is going on.

Jenk,

I can tell you that what you are suffering from is not good because of this simple truth:

God is Not the author of confusion.

And you clearly, by your own admission, are confused.

You also know that you are, in some way, either consciously or sub-consciously, holding on to this condition. Because you question above "should I cast away what could be a gift from God" - that puts you in some control of the situation.

I, personally, do not believe that what you have described in your condition is of God - because He does not orchestrate confusion and anxiety. With that said, from a spiritual perspective, I think it is harmful for you to regard this condition as some sort of "gift."

I don't mean to pry, but I would like to know if you have ever dabbled in the Occult. You do not have to be afraid of admitting this to me if you have.

I've heard stories of people with internally-imposed physical injuries like you describe. Exorcism did free them from future injuries.

You've said that you don't want to get rid of this, but in case it ever gets to a point that you want to free yourself, you can tell it to go.

Jesus gave his believers authority to cast out demons...and oddly enough, his disciples complained that there were nonbelievers casting out demons too. That comment would start a holy war in the deliverance forum...but when it comes to your own health and survival, God (who sets the rules on who has power to exorcise) wants to help people be free.

The basics-- in the name of Jesus, leave me alone and don't return.

Then again, in Acts 19:15, some men started an exorcism business on their own, and... the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?

And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus.

Many people find that in the beginning, demons seem benign and even helpful. Later, they're cantankerous and destructive, selfish, intrusive, time-consuming. Whether this is physical or spiritual, there's a chance it could get worse.

1. There are electronic charges associated with seizures. That might relate to the magnetism.

2. Consider what LilLamb suggested-- power lines nearby, sleeping next to an appliance, struck by lightning, even different charges in your cells based on your composition. (Take more potassium.)

3. Doctors spend ten minutes diagnosing, and move on to the next patient. A single doctor doesn't know everything. Request another specialist, and continue researching on your own

4. Don't go outside during a lightning storm.

5. Some medications cause seizures. There's an asthma inhaler known for this. Certain artificial sweeteners can also have this side effect...I won't mention names or I could be hunted down.

I think it's valuable to explore all your options in case something suddenly gets worse.
