I hear ya.

Sometimes it does feel like a struggle to get into the lord when you are playing. Somedays you may find that you are in a really intense place with God, and others you may not feel him at all.

The point is that your role as a member of the worship team is to lead the congregation into a deeper place of worship. God may hold back his presence from you in order for you to fullfil the task he has for you that day. If you get lost in God then often you are lost to the team, this can effect the worship over the whole congregation. Always remeber that we cannot see what God is doing in someones life. you are a servant to the church, remember that it is your job to give so that they can enter into his presence.

Why do you worship the Lord, is it to get into his presence or is it just because he is God. God is worthy to be praised no matter what, even if he hadn't sent Christ to save us he would still be worthy. Even if we never get touched by the holy spirit, we are still his creation and he is still worthy to be praised.

Don't get caught up in what God is giving to you, make sure that you are giving all to God.
I am not saying you do get caught up in those things, but often we do, I know I can and that is why I say it.

Is there a reason you havn't shared this with the worship leader, I think it is only fair that you do.
It is nice as a worship leader to know what space your team is in. Maybe it is an issue that you can address as a team.

Bless you

You don't day how long you have been playing guitar in a praise team setting. When I first started, I was very self conscious and my focus was on the guitar. After a while I got more comfortable with the songs and everyone else's rhythm and it became 2nd nature. This comes with time, be patient.

Sometimes a song has a lot of fast chord changes that don't match the melody of the song and I stop singing on those ones. I figure everyone else can fill the vocal gap and playing it correctly takes priority. We usually end on slower easier to play worship songs that make entering in much easier. Hope this helps.

Sometimes I get caught up in wanting to feel God's presence and then I realize it doesn't matter how I feel, he is worthy to praised no matter what.
