I need a job... badly

Hello, it'd mean a lot if some of you joined me in prayer for a job to come my way. I don't know if any of you have dealt with those Unicru personality tests that a lot of companies use now, but they're nigh impossible to pass and if you don't answer the (mostly ambiguous) questions precisely the right way your application is discarded before anyone can even see it. It's really frustrating, I applied at several places before learning this. Being honest on those things pretty much gets your application discarded regardless of your prior experience or how well you'd actually do on the job. Whatever happened to an interview with a real person? At least then I could ask for clarification on such bizarre questions as "It is maddening when the court system lets guilty criminals go free" (You have to pick one of four answers ranging from strongly agree or strongly disagree).

I'm going to do another one today, and I have some old fashioned paper applications to fill out and return. I /really/ need the money as rent here is quite a lot and money reserves are running ever lower. I'm good for another month or so but past that... I may have to move back in with my parents, and I'd almost rather die than do that (for reasons I'd rather not get into here).

Oh, and I applied at Blockbuster but thanks to Unicru I'll likely not get a call back now that I know what I know about those tests :/

I'm probably going to have much better luck with the paper applications and a subsequent interview. You know, an interview with a real person.

Try customer service call centers if you have any in your area. They usually have high turnovers and pay very, very well for someone your age. They also have very flexible schedules. Your State Unemployment agency also may be able to help you locate a good job.

Well, the thing is... I can't drive. So I have to apply pretty locally... I will look for call centers in the area though. What I was really hoping for was a nearby daycare, I'd love to work at one of those... but there are none nearby. Thank you all for the prayer and advice, however, I feel better already and I'll probably feel even better later once I've got more applications in.

Man, you guys are good. Trevor (my boyfriend) came back from work yesterday telling me that he had worked out a schedule where he can drive me to where he works while he's at school. They badly need people there and so I'll probably be hired, plus he can show me the ropes. He's going to bring me an application tonight.

Unfortunately, my cat had to go to the emergency vet clinic last night due to a sudden bout of constipation (he strained, grunted, and threw up for over an hour, the poor thing) and now I owe $400 to my mom. Plus, I have to take him to a regular vet to have blood work done and also for some work on his teeth. He's doing okay this morning, they held him overnight and have him on fluids and they flushed all the junk out of his colon. He's eating and being friendly with the staff though, and we're going to pick him up tonight.

I thank God for my boyfriend, who got out of a nice warm bed and went out into the cold to take Moosey in, and I also thank God that my mom was willing to foot the bill for now. In addition, I thank God that my Moosey is okay even though he's an old geezer and his bowels apparently aren't functioning as well as they used to.

I'm still praying I get that job, or a job, within the next week, and I especially pray that once I get the results of Moosey's bloodwork back that it'll be something minor that can be easily corrected so he won't get so constipated again. I love my kitty, and even though I've had him for 9 years I'd love to have him for 9 more. Thank you all again for your prayers.

Oh boy! Continued prayer and even keeping my fingers crossed. You had better post to let us know. Good to hear the boss (Moosey) is doing a lot better. Force the boss to take his meds. Cats are something else with 20 claws is it, to object with.

Lord, you know the circumstances of our sister. You promise to give us all that we need, no more and no less. I come to you Lord and ask that you would bring employment our sister's way, the exact place where you want her to be. And until you do Father, I ask that you would comfort her and give her peace. Welp, here's how it went. I posted this prayer request plus another on another message board. A few hours later, my boyfriend comes home with the idea of me working with him. He picks me up an application the next day, turns it in the day after that, and the day after that I was interviewed... and hired. I start tomorrow at 1.

Moosey's doing okay too, he's back to playing and goofing off. He snuggled up next to me for a nap yesterday afternoon, which was nice. He's taking his medicine so far, he tries to pull his head away but that just results in nasty, oily laxative stuff all over his face so I think he'll quit that once he's had enough of cleaning it out of his fur.
