• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I miss the old P-R-E Forum

I miss it too! Being exposed to the mix of theologies, especially Lutheran and Reformed was the catalyst that sent me down the Reformed path. When I came here, I was a disgruntled Evangelical hungry for the biblical truths of the Reformation, but completely ignorant of calvinism and reformed theology. I didn't even know what a presbyterian was! P/R/E was one of the means God used to bring me to Reformed Christianity, especially the presbyterian variety. Now we Protestants are all isolated, huddled in our own corners.

I've been callin' myself XProtestant because most Protestants I've met don't know what the protest was about, or have whitewashed & rationalized away the real differences. It was like watching people put one foot in their mouths while they kicked themselves w/the other.
Even WATCHing made me uncomfortable.:sorry:

You are not the Lone Ranger, I miss it too.
What we have now is division and more division, debating only amongst yourselves and preaching to the choir. Not to mention the fact that many of us were disenfranchised when PRE was closed, and now don't fit in any of the little congregation boxes.
In the good old PRE days you could broach a subject and garner a nice cross-section of views to give you food for thought, if nothing else. However now, unless you tow the party line or give the staff answers you get in all sorts of trouble now.
I guess all this segregation works well for those who like to pose questions of which they already know the answers and can simply report anyone who doesn't agree.
However that is a rather sad and small world to live in.

Ha! I came here just after or right as IDD was being closed, and it doesn't have a very good reputation. But you think otherwise?

Good Day, Bulldog

I am quite sure that it's reputation is well
deserved, but I do miss it it was like an all out debating zone 24x7.

Peace to u,

Bill
