  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi, I grew up as a Christian, but really became passionate about my faith when I discovered apologetics about two years ago. Since then, I have loved studying the Bible, learning apologetics and theology, and sharing my faith with everyone I can.

I recently started a youtube video about apologetics and defending our faith. I would really appreciate it if you would be able to take a look and perhaps give some advice.

It would be rare for me to take ten and a half minutes to view a video, yet I did. My first impression was to be very impressed by the fact that you made such a video at such a young age. When I entered college, I was basically interested in partying. What I wanted to stress was that if I had to do it over again, I would have attended church.

I did want to mention that you are young - you probably still have much to learn. Be humble.

I was disappointed that you saw fit to make a video about Mormons (I only watched the first few seconds). I think you could devote yourself to positive things, rather than looking for fault.

I was interested in apologetics early and often since becoming a Christian. You'll get into a lot of different issues, the history of the Bible. Evidential, presuppositional logic and knowing the Scriptures is a key.

If you decide to pursue a certain topic just let me know, drop me a PM or something. I've been into it for a while, I would be interested in seeing where you go with it.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think you are certainly right about humility. I try to watch myself as far as that as much as possible.

I also strongly disagree that I should make videos about more positive topics alone. I agree that we should not tear other people down, but we ought to tear apart any false believe system that denies the gospel. Mormonism does not teach the real Jesus or a saving gospel, so we as Christians have an obligation to destroy it, even if we may unfortunately hurt feelings.

The debate between presuppositional and evidential apologists is certainly fascinating. I agree that knowing scripture is absolutely foundational. This is the best way to counter those who would try to twist it. As Jesus said to satan, "it is written."

Well stay in the Word and take in Apologetics when you can. I can get complicated but if your rooted and grounded in the Scriptures you can always back up and reexamine the Scriptures. Learning the history and canon of Scriptures is very important before you start sorting through all the arguments of Apologetics.

Hello BuildingApologetics, I watched one of your videos titled "Are YOU a Christian?"; much is debated about faith and repentance, but you did great simply defining both terms and how it relates to being a Christian. I do believe in my heart I'm a Christian, not perfectly; but as I trust God knows best for me and more than I ever could, only if I sought and listened more as I should.

Thanks you for posting your videos and making them, it'll definitely be interesting to see more from you.

Oz, who is an apologist, is looking for people to join with him in an apologetics project. I think you may be interested and it will be an interesting experience. The link above is to Oz's thread where he explains.

I don't think it is your calling to pass judgment on other people. We all have to do it occasionally, but I think you will find it is a bad habit to get into.

Thank you so much for the feedback! That was actually a video I did quite a while ago. I think there are times that Satan will try to tell us that we aren't really saved, but I think we can rest on the certainty of God's word. I do think that it is extremely important to listen carefully to what God is telling us, both in our innermost thoughts and in the scripture.

I think nuance is extremely important here.

I certainly do not want to judge Mormons personally; I want to judge what they believe. In fact, if I were to judge them personally, I would have nothing but good things to say. All of the Mormons I have talked to have been kind, respectful, and polite.

On the other hand, because I care for these people, I must warn them of the path they are on. They do not believe in the real Jesus, the real gospel, or the real God. We are commanded to do all we can to share the gospel with them out of love and concern for them. This does include demolishing what they believe about God to replace it with the Biblical view.

2 Corinthians 10:5
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ

Acts 18:28
for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.

These verses well as many others testify to the fact that we are to destroy, demolish, and refute all worldviews that go against Christ. In this case, we are commanded to destroy Mormonism. Of course, this does not mean we try to win the argument. The goal is to win the person, yet sometimes this can only be done

Question for you about your video: if the information presented in your video was incorrect, would you like to know?

Glad you made it here!
How does one "grow up Christian" though? You accepted Jesus at a young age I guess :D
