  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am so sad. Recently someone got into my truck in the evening and took anything they thought was valuable. I thought all they got were my CD's (which were mostly Christian) and a tote bag I had (which they probably used to carry the CD's). This happened 2 months ago. I just now realized that also in the tote bag was my wedding ring and a loose diamond that had fallen out. I also had another ring that needed repair that my son got me. I was looking for something else that prompted me to look for the pouch that had the rings in it. When I couldn't find it, I realized.....it was in the tote. I don't know if my insurance will cover it or not, but I wonder.....should I get another ring or not? I really liked the ring because it had a dove on it, and supposedly they only mate once for life. I haven't been able to wear it for years because the diamond fell out, and even though we found it, I wanted it to be replaced with a bigger stone. Before my husband passed he told me to buy the diamond that I always wanted and to wear it forever. I can't afford it unless the insurance covers it, but I wondered what some of you might think or do about this situation. I am truly heartbroken. Even though it has been 3 years, this makes me feel like I am losing him completely and I don't want to do that ever.

Oh Michelle

I am so sorry. I wish I knew what to tell you, but I don't. I can see reasons to replace it and reasons not to. I would not do anything immediately, but spend time letting the loss sink it. Then make your decision.

I have stopped wearing my wedding ring, but I wear Terry's ring on my right hand. I also wear on my right hand another ring that Terry gave me when we were first married.

Your are in my prayers.

Jean

So sorry to hear about this.
I'm not sure what I'd do in your situation, but my heart goes out to you. I hope your insurance will cover your loss, although it's not the same as the original ring.
Perhaps a ring with the same dove symbol, but in a different design? That would keep some of the feel of the first ring, but it wouldn't be exactly like it.
Take Care,
C J

Thank you so much! I also wear my husbands band, but I wear it on my left hand. I also wear another ring that has his birthstone that he got me for an anniversary. Not sure what I am going to do, but I am going to try to get insurance to cover it.
