As a new believer, I was entrusted to lead a Bible study. Out of my ignorance, I taught modalism.
I was corrected and given an opportunity to repent and correct my teaching. I did and, since then, I haven't taught anything that is in error.

He's only used one perfect person.
Whew. Huge load off my shoulders.
BarbB said:Mike, not everything you disagree with is heresy. Some of it is style, that's all.
BarbB said:So can you concede that if this hip-hop church does teach solid doctrine, then that's OK? Or is the hip-hop thing still in the way?
Don't you just love these straight answers...MikeMcK said:I was very clear about what I believe in that thread and I'm not going to let you troll for a response in this thread, when you know very well that I've said that it has nothing to do with race or musical style.
Anyone other than me think these kind of posts/attitudes are kinda scary?MikeMcK said:As a new believer, I was entrusted to lead a Bible study. Out of my ignorance, I taught modalism.

But that is a flase slogan and the spirit of anti-christ! Are you not IN CHRIST and isn't christ perfect? Phil.3-15, heb. 12;23, Jas. 1;17, Heb. 10; 14, 1 Jn. 4;12 are just a few vers. that say we are perfect.BarbB said:Ha ha ha - the "slogan" of the church I go to in the summer is "No perfect people allowed".
Well, Hagee is currently preaching on prayer - you can catch him at 4 p.m. EDT on TBN. I'm liking this series enough that I'll probably order it on CD.
Mike, not everything you disagree with is heresy. Some of it is style, that's all.

Questioning Christian said:I am sure that he means he has not since taught anything that he KNOWS was error when he taught it. I don't think there's anything scary at all in his posts. As a moderator, aren't you supposed to be settling the waters instead of stirring up what isn't there?

Rick is an ex mod~ andhe wasnt stirring. I think he was just pointing out that someone who claims to have not spoken an error in years is kinda unique. A perfect man.
Tatu said:Hey Mike, what does Philippians 1:18 say and why?
What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

MikeMcK said:Phil 1:18 is a verse I've seen you quote a couple of times to support false teachers and to make it appear that those of us who follow the Biblical command to test the things we hear in light of scripture, are wrong.
And, on the surface, a superficial reading does make it appear that way.
Phil 1:18 says:
However, when we look at it closely and study the text, rather than just isolating one verse out of context in order to prop up your argument, we see that Paul is talking about the Gospel only as it is true to God's word.
Paul was reiterating a sentiment I've shared here many times, and that is that God can use anyone for the furtherance of His kingdom.
However, the Bible also makes it clear that God doesn't excuse their behavior.
The teachers in Paul's verse were teaching out of a false spirit, but were teaching the true Gospel.
The false teachers we are talking about are not holding to orthodoxy and, therefore, this verse is irrelevant.
MikeMcK said:I would think that what is truly scary is the fact that some people are so unfamiliar with the idea that there are actually preachers and teachers out there who hold to sound doctrine.

Please. Make some recommendations.
