• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Quiting smoking has weighed heavy on my heart and mind for a few years now. More so the last week or so. I have prayed that God just remove the desire from me but I have to realize that is not His plan for me. I must go the difficult path........LOL!

I haven't totally decided if I should try the patch, gum or other "helper" The only one help I know I will have to rely on is God and lots of :prayer:

I would appreciate all prayers and advice.

A bit about me I am 36 years old, married 16 years, smoking since around 12 years of age. My hubby is a smoker as well but not as heavy as my 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day habit.

You are very welcome! I also wanted to tell you that it helped me ALOT to realize that: You get the exact same craving whether you smoke or not. You get a craving for a cigarette, you can either give in and get another craving a few minutes later, or you can ignore it and it actually does go away! The more practice you get with ignoring your craving, the longer you can go between cravings at all!
