Hello,

I was reading Psalms a few min. ago and I came accross something that I partly understand, but I want to get a full understanding of the meaning..

It says "The meek shall inherit the Earth". Could someone please help me to get the full meaning of this?

God Bless,
Justin.

A meek and mild person is usually favoured by all people of earth and therefore a meek person automatically receives blessings both by fellow-humans and God. The Bible says in Numbers 12:3 - (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.). And as a result, Moses was favoured and chosen by God to be the leader of Isrealites (God's people) and to deliver them from the bondage of the Egyptians. A meek person understands, obeys and is loving, humble and submissive. Such a meek person usually makes successful decisions because God and humans would be passing on perfect counsels to him/her as they like and favour him/her. Such a meek person inherits all kinds of wordly and spiritual blessings. Such a meek person will stay alive on earth for longer period of time than the proud and wicked people. On the contrary, most of us usually find it hard to appreciate an arrogant and rebellious person. Such a person usually makes wrong decisions and fails because "pride goes before a fall".

I think this is what it means when the Bible says "The meek shall inherit the earth".

The Online Bible says

mildness of disposition, gentleness of spirit, meekness
++++
Meekness toward God is that disposition of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting. In the OT, the meek are those wholly relying on God rather than their own strength to defend them against injustice. Thus, meekness toward evil people means knowing God is permitting the injuries they inflict, that He is using them to purify His elect, and that He will deliver His elect in His time. (Is. 41:17, Lu. 18:1-8) Gentleness or meekness is the opposite to self-assertiveness and self-interest. It stems from trust in God's goodness and control over the situation. The gentle person is not occupied with self at all. This is a work of the Holy Spirit, not of the human will. (Gal. 5:23)

Hope it helps!!

Bless you!
