Hello,
I can’t figure out how to use this website so hopefully it’s okay if I post on here?
I wanted to ask people, how do you believe different interpretations of the Bible impact the message of the Bible and the truth it is meant to convey? Do you believe the Bible is intended for interpretation or that the truth of the Bible is twisted by humankind?
I’m not sure if this makes any sense, but any answers would be appreciated. Thank you.

I read the KJV. It says what it says. The vast majority of scripture should be taken as literal except where the text CLEARLY denotes it is symbolic. It is in English and there is no need for interpretation. People like to distort scripture by bringing in outside ideas and try to fit them into scripture. When all should be taking scripture and see if outside ideas measure up to it. In this world, life only comes down to two choices, you either believe in God or you believe in man.

Yes, I think some people twist the Bible. I think some of the information is figurative and can be interpreted differently by different people. But I think the commandments are straightforward and the key to our finding the way.

I think this is a great question. You will find there are many different viewpoints. Hopefully, you will get a healthy variety in responses to illustrate this.

I, for one, believe that to get the most out of the Bible, it is necessary to first embrace the teachings of the Master, Jesus Christ. Here you will find the highest and most powerful teachings in the Bible. Then, to fully appreciate and understand the teachings of others in the Bible (Old and New Testaments), apply what Jesus taught to sort through the rest. Only in this way can a worshiper hope to understand the greatest truths to be found in this book. Many seek to justify every word written in the Bible. This unfortunate practice leads to the weakening/dilution of Jesus' powerful message.

Imagine a group of 20 scholars seated at a round table discussing a new translation. Imagine the input that would go back and forth for perhaps a year. Finally, they all agree on the final version.

Where is the Holy Spirit in all of that? If they were all occupied by the Holy Spirit, wouldn't they all have come up with THE answer and adjourned the meeting that day?

What has happened? 25 or 30 translations of the Bible being sold (and delivered by missionaries) around the world. (Obviously, each has to be written in the language of the intended audience.) Why?

How many denominations are there? How many of them insist upon their translation? Why?

Obviously, the Holy Spirit has not been the writer in every case. Which one did He write?

Just as obvious, one has to be led by the Holy Spirit in selecting a Bible.

This might help explain:

What is the difference between exegesis and eisegesis?

"'So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
. It shall not return to Me void,
. But it shall accomplish what I please,
. And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.'"
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (Isaiah 55:11)

To me, this means God will make sure His word does all which God Himself means by His word. So, all the disagreement and misunderstanding and twisting by humans can not stop God's word from doing all He desires.

So, simply trust God to do with you all He means by His word. He is able to communicate with us and have us understand what He wants :) In us, God does what He means by His word . . . in His love we have His love meaning which words can't tell!

Right. I was just posting on that:

6 He stood and surveyed the earth; He looked and startled the nations. Yes, the perpetualmountains were shattered, The ancient hills collapsed. His ways are everlasting.

26"The blessings of your father Have surpassed the blessings of my ancestors Up to the utmostbound of the everlasting hills; May they be on the head of Joseph...

15"And with the best things of the ancient mountains, And with the choice things of the everlasting hills,

Psalm 76:4 You are radiant with light, You are more majestic than the ancient mountains.
