A couple is considered to have fertility issues when they have been trying for a year to get pregnant without success. But...does this mean actively trying, as in, charting and making sure to have sex at the correct time every month? Or...does it mean those who have not prevented pregnancy but still don't get pregnant?

My understanding is that a couple is considered to have fertility issues when they haven't been preventing for a year and haven't gotten pregnant. Obviously, if the husband is out of town or something during ovulation week for most of those months, the couple might want to give it a little extra time.

It's been a year for us and I wasn't extremely careful for years before that. He thinks there is something wrong. I'm not so sure and I'm not ready to worry about it yet. I know there have been some months where we were not together during ovulation (I was sick, he was traveling, etc).
