I have a question about pregnancy. At what weeks does a baby be born and not need to be given oxygen? Any here that had a baby to come premature? My son was born at 34 1/2 weeks and he didn't need to be given oxygen but he was short, though. How about 30 weeks, is that a little too early? Actually it is my daughter in law that is pregnant and I try to not worry, though.

It varies lots.

I know they're saying the earliest a baby can be born and considered "viable" is around 25 weeks... and that's with lots of interventions. I've heard earlier at 23, and there was a lady that is in the news in the UK because her son was born at 22 weeks and the hospital did *nothing* to save his tiny life. :(

It really just depends on the little ones themselves and their strength when they arrive. Some newborns at 40 weeks need oxygen.

It really does depend on the baby. My daughter was born at 38 weeks 5 days gestation because I was induced. She did not need oxygen. My cousin Carter who was born last week on 9/5 did not need oxygen either, and he was 29 weeks, and weighed 2lbz 11oz. It depends on the babies strength.
