  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello!

I was wondering how to approach a Prayer Request.

If you want for others to pray for someone, do you have to list their name? First and Last? Or is the first name enough? This might sound silly but how does God know who you are praying for if we just address that person as susan? I mean, there are tons of susans in the world!

I know we have an Awesome God  but what do you feel the best way to request a prayer is? (I've always struggled with this)

Thanks a million!

Scott

On a public message board, first and last would probably not be a good idea. Truthfully you don't have to list their name at all. You can just say that you have a friend in need of prayer. Whether or not you say why is really up to you. It does enable the person praying to be more specific when they pray, though.

It's not a silly question at all Scott. We serve a loving awesome God Who spoke the universe into existence. Be assured, He knows which "Susan" is in need.

Hope that helps. :)

Hi Scott! Yes indeed the Lord knows everything, he knows your heart and has even put it upon your heart to come to him for this person. If that is so does he need the name like Santa Clause? ;)

No, to ask anyone here for your friend that is all that is needed. If one prays in the Spirit one need not know anything but that someone else needs prayer and is asking for it and prays in agreement for that. The Spirit will reveal all else. I have many time seen a prayer request and very little information has been given for why and I will start praying and much more than that is revealed and the person then asks me later, how did you know? I say I do not know but the Father in heaven knows our every need. Did not the Savior tell us that when speaking on praying?
