Let's talk about one of the greatest heretical slap-in the face movies to Christianity to ever be produced, which will hit theatres soon (if not already). The production is called "Saved" and is a "mock-u-mentary" which mocks the life of born-again believers. I have a strong stomach, but every time I see the commercial I want to toss. You think witnessing is difficult now... wait until you try to witness to someone who's seen this satanic work...

Let's talk about that one.

Are you talking about the movie that the Culkin kid is in? If so, I've refuted this movie from day one, but if you look into the Box Office forum you'll see alot of people have support of it. They tend to say it's a funny story that looks at the realism of how some Christians act. I don't buy into that.

Culkin did an interview with O'Brien or Leno, can't remember, but he talked about researching the movie and how he went to Christian concerts. He made the comment "I think they thought I was one of them", like we have some kind of disease that he didn't want to get. So, if this is the movie you are talking about, it came out in the states a while ago, but still don't like it for what it portrays and have no urge to ever see it.

I just looked it up after seeing this thread. I had not previously heard about it. Ick!
I won't be using my hard earned $$ on this mess of a movie.

My $.02 <-- more than I should bother giving for this movie.

wow, thanks for the link cright! um, i read the synopsis and it makes the movie sound really quite 'good'... hahahaha its obvious that the movie isn't good and i am feeling that it is incredibly non-christian while at the same time dealing with christian issues... no matter what the intent of the directors/producers of the film, i can almost garauntee that it will portray a negative image of christians... hooray for hollywood (sarcasm mode off)

I generally agree with me too. :D As for "Saved"...

Roger Ebert gave this movie a huge thumbs up... it went on to make about $17.12, if that.

This movies makes at least one classic Hollywood mistake... did you ever notice that supposed "born-again" Christians are a weird mix of Evangelical and Catholic in Hollywood movies? Almost every racy comedy now has a character who is a mockable "born-again Christian" but he/she is always around a crucifix or has a room full of Jesus pictures or has "holy water" around or is blessing himself or has Rosary beads, etc.

It's weird and it shows the ignorance and intolerance of Hollywood.

In "Saved" the school has a huge picture of Jesus on the wall. My brother has taught in a Baptist high school for 22 years and I am in a lot of Christian schools in my capacity as a college recruiter... we have yet to see such a picture.

That really irks me too. In movies and on TV, you always have a priest, not a pastor. Crucifixes and rosaries and confessions and signs of the cross. Does Holly wood and TV producers think that Catholics are the only Christians in the world? Come on! They need to get the whole picture.

It's good to know they think enough about us to mock us and ridicule us. They did the same to Jesus. Who knew that Christ still had enough of an impact in this wicked, selfish world to rate His followers being mocked! :D

I think a lot of tv writers are still trying to work through the confusion, frustration and anger they felt for the catholic church when they were children.

Wow... I'd heard about this movie a while back, but I'd totally missed the fact that it'd already come and gone in the theaters. Praise God! I'm glad it failed so miserably.

Now... should we debate whether or not it's sinful of me to be happy that this movie failed? ;)

Well including the OP that's two people that generally agree with you! :holy:

May I add to the comment that

"It's weird and it shows the ignorance and intolerance of Hollywood."

Through their intolerance it shows the great irony (and tragedy) of our time; The idea that "Christians are so intolerant!"

No. I did go to Catholic school as a kid, through 6th grade, but that was only because the public schools in my neighborhood were so bad, my parents sent me there for my own safety.

I was raised United Methodist, but did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until about 4 years ago. I attend Calvary Chapel of Placerville, which is a fundamental, non-denominational, Bible-based church. My dad is a Baptist minister, and if I had to "pick" a denomination, that would be it.
