Hi Myways:
I was reading this "95 thesis against dispensationalism" here and a little ways down the list I finally found out what Dispensationalists are getting at when they blather about "rightly dividing the Word of Truth..."
I never knew before that they meant literally dividing! That's so queer!
I always thought they meant the obvious plain rendering of the text--that is, discerning--the very thing that every Christian tries to do when they read the Bible. That's so hilarious!

Let’s take a good look at Thesis #12 for a deeper understanding about what Dave here is laughing about:
Dave’s Source
12. Contrary to the dispensationalists’ frequent citation of the King James Version translation of 2 Tim 2:15, “rightly dividing” the truth, as evidence for the need to divide the biblical record into discrete dispensations, all modern versions of Scripture and non-dispensational commentators translate this verse without any allusion to “dividing” Scripture into discrete historical divisions at all, but rather show that it means to “handle accurately” (NASB) or “correctly handle” (NIV) the word of God.
Wrong, wrong and dead wrong. While I
do not label myself as any Dispensationalist (a funny word indeed), I do regard many among them as members of our
“His BODY” Church (
Col. 1:24 =
Church #2 here) saved by God’s grace through faith apart from works.
Eph. 2:8-10 (
Gospel #2 here). The actual Greek term in Paul’s wording to Timothy in 2Tim 2:15 (
BLB) is
“orthotoemo” (
#3718) literally meaning
“to cut straight.” I prefer the
‘rightly divided’ translation, because the
‘cutting’ action is working to
‘divide’ Scripture into subcompartments that mirror the cutting of rows in a Garden where God’s Living Word has a
spirit (OT),
soul (Pauline Epistles) and physical
body (Kingdom Epistles) and
“the three are into the One” (
1Jn 5:8) in the exact configuration of the
Father (spirit),
Son (blood witness) and
Holy Spirit (water witness Helper) like this (
pic*).
Open up the [pic*] above to realize that we have
‘veils’ falling between the Father
and Son
and Holy Spirit in the very same way they also appear in
God’s Living Word (Scripture), because Scripture has a
‘triune’ nature exactly like
“The Word” (F+S+HS) corresponding to the three sections of the Tabernacle of Moses and the Temple:
The
‘Second Veil’ stands between the
Holy of Holies (OT) and the
Holy Place (Pauline Epistles) like the
“First Veil” is the
Book of Acts standing between the Pauline Epistles
and the Kingdom Epistles
‘rightly dividing’ the Word of Truth into the
three witnesses of God’s Living Word. These three divisions just happen to be written ‘to’ the members of the three primary
‘dispensations’ (
Vine's) of
Israel (OT) the
Body of Christ (Pauline Epistles) and the
Bride of Christ (Kingdom Epistles) that many of you want to mix together to
‘wrongly divide’ the Word of Truth. Those of you blinded by various forms of
“Denominationalism” (
2Thes. 2:7-12) are tearing down the
“First Veil” to mix the
‘water and blood’ (
1Jn 5:6)
ministries of Jesus Christ (Kingdom and Grace respectively)
together into
an abomination that God sent to NOBODY. You cannot toss all professing Dispensationalists into the same pot, because they
‘divide’ Scripture in many different ways to start our mystery church at Pentecost (Acts 2 = Traditional-dispys), the conversion of Paul (Acts 9 = Ultra-dispys), his separation by the Holy Spirit (Acts 13) and all the way over into Acts 28:28 (hyper-dispys).
So, where do
‘you’ want to place the
‘Two Veils’ in God’s Living Word for
‘rightly dividing’ the Word of Truth?
:0)
In Christ Jesus,
