I just want to say thank you for being so nice to me. I visited another forum where I was treated like trash every time I posted. I felt so hurt. I have been emotionally abused my whole life, no matter how hard I tried to please people. They would say, "accept yourself." I felt dismissed. It's like some people either ignore you or attack you. They can't accept you and love you. That's why I became an introvert when I was very outgoing as a child.
They blame the victim and say "well it's because of what you're saying." I admit, I have said some snobby things in my youth. But I have also been misinterpreted a lot. Someone mentioned this to me: you say something and it's interpreted almost the opposite way. Then the person attacks the straw man. It's awful. This happens to Christians a lot lately it seems: we may be seen as bigots and holier than thou.
But if you become a people pleaser, they ignore you. They wonder why you care if they like you.
If you *don't* care what they think, they say, "you're supposed to care what people think." It's never ending.
Anyhow, now I have found my online communities and church. Thank God for the Internet, otherwise I would be lost.
I hope the rest of you feel loved and supported here too.
